Neighbors keep parking on my grass

Anonymous
I am the first house on a court. A few neighbors drive down our court to drop off or pick up their kids from the bus that stops at the corner of my yard. However, instead of just stopping in the road, they like to pull into my lawn and park. With all of the heavy rain we've had lately, it's leaving mud streaks and pulled up the grass on that edge of my lawn.

Any advice on how to get them to stop using my yard for parking? Or, do I just give in and lay some gravel down in that area?

put some big rocks there, not inviting gravel.

Put up some thin stakes along the edge of your lawn - it doesn't have to be permanent just make sure they're like 3 feet tall (and maybe with reflective tape on the) so people see them.

A sign or some construction cones or hazard tape so they get the message. They clearly don't think it is your property (being generous, I know).

+1

If you are home you can also go out and ask them to move to the road. I put stakes out and it worked.

That's weird. I'd put up some sort of fence to block them. I'm having a hard time imaging what the street/yard looks like, that they would feel comfortable doing that.

Yes. Buy them at home depot. People use them for snow plows too.

I've thought of doing this, but it is an expensive solution. I have a fairly big lawn. Even if I could get over the sticker shock, it's not an aesthetic I'm particularly fond of.

It is really bizarre. I would never do it, but these neighbors seem all to willing to. The street is plenty wide enough that they don't need to pull into my property, yet they do.

Okay, I can do this. How long do you think I need to leave them there? What if they just drive over them (it happened with flags I put out in the Spring when I seeded and put straw all over the area)?

Then you put nails in the grass. Eff them.

Lol!

Leave them up, they can't drive over them, they are about 3 ft tall. If they DO run them over, or park between then, PLEASE go out and tell them not to park on your grass. Some people are just plain stupid/oblivious/rude. They need someone to be direct.

Haha, with all of the time we spent seeding and watering just to have inconsiderate people ruin it again, this isn't such a bad idea.

Is this the strip of grass the county owns in front of your house? Like the border or the road? There’s nothing you can do. It’s hard to believe people are literally on your actual property.

If op is maintaining it, it's reasonable for her to keep people's cars off of it. Who parks on grass anyway? These people are off.
