It doesn’t make sense for any player to play up and be a sub if you ca be a starter in your own age group.

But players/families can do whatever they want.
Agree and most around here aren't allowing playing up unless you are a superstar.

Might as well play town/rec if you have no aspirations for playjng in college.

I agree with this from the view why pay all this money if your kid has no interest in playing in college. However if a kid wants to compete and their highest level possible then go do something else for college that’s alright also.

That being said your comment makes no sense based off what was being discussed?

For some places, if you want to play on varsity HS, you need to play in club and at a high-level.

Meaning if Aug birthday players intend to play in college they need to play on their correct grade in school team. If they dont college coaches and recruiters will ignore them.

And how do you achieve that when there are no school grade teams or leagues?

Other way around. Play on age to play in college and play up for fun.
Because college coaches said to clubs they don't care the age group of recruits; they take HS, transfers and foreign and recruit under BY. To be best player, be oldest in age grou and youngest to increase chances of quitting. Best players play in college and find the right program regardless of age.

Again in BY trapped players are playing up.There are no other options.

In SY Aug/Sept and sometimes Nov qualify for the grade down team. If they choose to play on that team they will be ignored by college coaches when it comes time for recruiting. The easy solution is for Aug birthdays to play up on their correcr grade in school team.

In BY, Jan- Jul were playing in a grade below. Didn't hurt recruiting. Easy solution is to stay with facts, birthdays rather than something variable by state, school start ages which grades don't even have official documents to report to verification firms. College coaches said they aren't ignoring anyone, they don't care about age groups. Recruits have to seek out colleges.

For the folks who are advocating for August players to play up with grade, question for you. An August player who is playing up with players who could be up to 12 to 13 months older, will most likely either be part of the mix on A team or a major contributor on a B team. So would that allow them to be not ignored by college recruiters? Perhaps if the player was going to dominate that age group then you can say it's a good tragedy for college, but if they are going to be middle of the pack in the age group then doesn't playing their age, which is with the lower grade, give them a better chance at not being ignored by college recruiters?
