| I don't get it. Why is there so much opposition to changing the name of Washington-Lee HS? |
| Lots of people went there. They don’t want their past erased. |
And are too ignorant to get the difference. |
Oh I see. I didn't realize that diplomas were being revoked. Now it makes total sense. |
| People had pride in their school. I don’t blame them for their feelings. |
Wait. The school's being closed, too? |
|
My HS was renamed after I graduated (unrelated to slavery/civil war) and it didn’t affect me at all. Somehow life went on.
People who don’t want to change W-L? Southern trash. |
You lack imagination . |
Oh, this should be good. How so? |
|
Personally, I'd rather the School Board was focusing its energy on solving space issues than on a bunch of meaningless PC crap like cleansing our history.
|
They did, they had White Pride. That's the problem. Bye! |
They can do both. |
| Why not just rename it Washington-Lincoln HS? Sounds almost identical, plus they can keep the W-L abbreviation. Easy fix |
Are you sure? Its not obvious to me that they can. In fact, Eric Gustshall (Arlington County Board member) wrote an article yesterday (https://www.arlnow.com/2018/09/13/progressive-voice-arlingtons-kodak-moment/) in which he described how the county is overwhelmed from a manpower perspective by all of the big issues it faces. I think the School Board and APS face the same issue. I think they should simply find a different Lee to slot in for Robert E. Lee, keep the W-L name, and move on. |
Just doesn’t virtue signal loud enough... |
