Private payrolls added 317,000, missing the expectation of 450,000. Government workers tumbled by 123,000, led by the loss of 144,000 government education jobs.

As markets are digesting the unexpected results, stocks are in chaos and the dollar and bond yields move lower.

Data was gathered mid-September when cases/hospitalizations were much worse than now. I expect this figure to be adjusted upwards > 100,000 next month - just like August’s numbers just were in this report.

As I predicted, this number was adjusted way up in today’s report.

Jobs added in October: 531,000, beating the 450,000 estimate
Unemployment down to 4.6%
Revised jobs added in September: 312,000, up from 194,000

It’s unfortunate how this news will be met with crickets on this site.

3 more years of this and Biden will be re-elected with ease.

Isn’t this just COVID make up?

Yup, economy is booming. The Dems just don’t know how to message because for the far left if there is even 1 poor person then things are not good. It’s a weird place the party has gone on messaging.

This isn’t new, it was also a problem in 2012.

I agree, it just seems so much worse now. It seems like some can never be happy, 600k jobs but but but…. Too much victimization the party needs some Bill Clinton optimism back. If trump had this economy he’d be screaming about all the records and how brilliant the policies were, and you say it enough and the heard starts believing.

I work in recruiting and it’s crazy now. Turnover is way up, people are leaving for better jobs, great time to look for more $$

The Democrats suck at messaging, yes, but please re-read the tweet you’re replying to. Part of the reason Democratic messaging “sucks” is that the media uses the GOP’s framing. Biden got the infrastructure bill passed, something Trump couldn’t do with the WH and both houses of congress, and the allegedly liberal NYT’s sub-headline was basically “but everyone’s really glum and the DeMoCrAtS aRe In DiSaRrAy.” The GOP’s decent at crafting dumb, but easily repeatable messaging, but it’s the “mainstream” media’s constant pushing the GOP messaging that really sinks us.

Democrats are economically illiterate, so results are showing. Money really does grow on trees!! 2022 will be a bloodbath.

His infrastructure bill will crater the economy.

Everything not related to infrastructure will suffer because of artificially shfting funds from people's disposable income to infrastructure.

The labor market has radically changed. The boomers are leaving in droves. Wisconsin is introducing a bill to relax employment regulations for teens.

I agree. That's why you don't push multi trillion bills that are sloppy and dump helicopter money. It has unintended consequences that make things worse.

BTW, he was a Democrat before he was a Republican.

You say this yet...

GHWB left a recession.
Clinton left a balanced budget and booming economy.
W left a catastrophic recession.
Obama left a stable and growing economy.
Trump left a recession and flagging job situation.
Biden is fixing it.

So when you say Democrats are economically illiterate, you actually mean republicans, right? Because facts matter.

Our country has serious infrastructure issues. I know DC is planning on replacing all the lead water lines. It’s happening in other states too. I support getting broadband in rural areas too.

What’s helicopter money? Someone keeps saying it but all I can picture is a helicopter mom.

Agree! Please explain. It makes no sense. We have a worker shortage.

The $1000s in child tax credit going to households every month. That helicopter money.

it's what we give at tax time every year, just in increments.
