It is the economy.

We have almost 20 million unemployed.
We have a -6.5% GDP growth (ie contraction)
We have trillions in new debt and deficit spending out the wazoo.

Yes, the stock market is up from its lows, but the stock market doesn't equal the economy.

We have almost 20 million unemployed, because we ordered businesses to close and paid people to stay home.

The funny thing is, is that it’s the leftist behavior that is severely damaging the US and being blamed on Trump. Riots and looting, he insists it get under control and these are deemed ‘peaceful’ by the left.

Another cop was shot in the head last night in CA - did you know that?

So far most of the rioting and looting has been proven to be from right wing provacatuers. There are very few arrests from the so called "Antifa" the protesters were protesting while insitagots were setting buildings aflame and breaking windows. I won't be surprised to find out this was a coordinated effort when the dust settles.

Yea, this has illuminated a new understanding of the right-wing to me. I used to think it was predominantly white, and probably white supremacists. But watching the video and reporting, I now understand that there are many African Americans among their ranks.

No. Because we have an idiot for a president that didn’t want to prepare and get ahead of a pandemic. We still don’t have testing where is needs to be. We aren’t doing robust tracing.
So... yep businesses had to close. That’s what happens when you have a failure of leadership from the executive branch.

The actual video and arrests of people setting fires and breaking windows are of right wingers, mostly white people. Yes, a lot of people then looted, all colors.

While continuing claims dropped again another week to 20 million. Slowly but surely it's coming back.

And these were ordered because the President failed to otherwise prepare for a pandemic. The business were already suffering. The Fed showed that the recession started in February. Trump didn't acknowledge the pandemic until March and it is June and we still don't have the testing and tracing protocols in place. Without that, the public generally doesn't feel safe to travel, to eat at restaurants or to ride elevators in office buildings. Solve or address the virus and the economy can rebound. Somehow a myraid of other countries have been able to do this. it just exposes how horrible a leader Trump is.

Part of the economy, sure. Travel, tourism, convention, hospitality will be in recession until there is a vaccine. That is a lot of jobs, Also, there is very little discretionary income right now and GDP is in recession - contraction.

So did Japan and South Korea. Do they also have economic meltdowns?

I'd love to hear how you would "solve" the virus. Should we be like China and just weld people shut in their homes?

You need to show your work that Japan and South Korea had the same degree of shutdown as experienced in the US.

They didn’t have to, because they were better prepared for the pandemic with testing and contact tracing.

The thread title is "It's the Economy Stoopid". The economy can rebound, but if I can't go to the gym or to school or on vacation, the economy is not my number one concern when voting. I'm trapped in my house and afraid to go out. My money is not worth squat if I can't use it to do things. It's my freedom stupid. This is why we are opening back up despite the virus. Let's see how it goes. It's not the flu. Wish it were the flu.

I think you missed the correction on that jobs report.

Negative, I think you missed the connection of our robust economy and the left's attempt to ignore it.

I think you meant the left’s attempt to destroy it. Because that’s what happened.

And Major League Baseball owners - “the left.”

And of course that notoriously pinko organization Nascar

As PPP funds run out, businesses will likely be making difficult decisions about their staff. We're in that position, having had about a dozen people sit completely idle, as our clients have not opened or are scaling back expected projects. We have been able to keep people on board with PPP loan, but that runs out in a couple of weeks.
