Harry is now 6th in line to the throne. An absolutely catastrophic event would have to happen for him to take the throne. Why shouldn't he and Meghan get to live their own lives?

It'd be different if William hadn't yet had kids and Harry was still 4th in line.

Again, the issue is that they want all of the trappings of royal life ($$ in funding from Prince Charles estate, taxpayer funded Frogmore Cottage, royal protection officers, all the pomp and fawning), without any of the responsibilities.

Good luck with that.

Wow I guess he should just completely abandon his family (only way to end his connection to “royal life” and “pomp”) to make you happy

Unfortunately the reality is funding and funding by the taxpayers. They can't demand or expect funding (including millions in security costs) if they don't perform royal duties. The British government would be well within their rights to raise a ruckus about it.

People on this thread are screeching about their personal views over Harry and Meghan without realizing these two are in a very particular set of circumstances that comes with many rules and it does not make a neat split easy without massive changes to how their life is funded and organized.

I can’t believe there are people on here who think they are planning on selling actual merchandise with Sussex on it. That’s not how any of this works...for any celebrity save Donald Trump.

I'm guessing that posters saying that are probably Trumpsters.

I don't see people like Zara abandoning her family because she's not involved in all the pomp.

I predict they will be divorced before too long.

So why did they spend millions remodeling a house on the public dime that they don’t plan to live in? They like to think themselves down to earth and relatable but come off spoiled and out of touch. If I were a British taxpayer I would be PISSED. Say what you will about people like the Kardashians but at least they spend their own money on lavish nonsense.

Does she take up royal engagements? Does she get a royal allowance? What security does she receive and who pays for it? Hmm... those are questions you need to ask. I did a quick search online and it's easily confirmed that Zara and her brother don't get royal funding and they also don't get security.

Probably something very small that set MM off about Kate and now MM has cut Harry from his family. Classic NPD. A thousand red flags when MM only had like 2 people from her past at the wedding. Probably cut everyone out all through her life because they called her out on what she really is.

I don't know why it's a surprise to anyone that Harry and Meghan felt unsupported by the BRF. The Queen has consistently failed to understand the emotional needs of anyone in her family, with truly devastating effects: Margaret, Charles, Diana, and now Harry and Meghan. She's all duty and stoicism, but those admirable attributes come with a real blind spot toward others. Because she has such power over her family members' personal lives, this causes repeated crises in the BRF.

I like and admire the Queen, but gosh, you'd think she'd learn by now to listen and take seriously when her loved ones express real human, emotional needs.

I truly believe she has aspergers.

Dude, they live in her mother's house which is staffed by royal protection officers 24/7. They also drive her cars...well, did. Zara's liscense was just suspended.

Anne pays for everything that has to do with them, their kids nannies and private schools, and their lifestyles.

Guess who pays for Anne?

If Harry and Meghan split their time between the U.K. and Canada as they've said they will, then you won't see them abandoning the family, either.

Total borderline personality. Her family history and her relationship history make it clear. And he as a wounded child fell easy prey.
