What exactly is the democratic party going to stand for in 2026 and 2028?

This is what I see as the GOP Platform in 2026:

Erosion of Democracy and Authoritarian Drift
Undermining elections, empowering autocrats, and dismantling democratic norms — the GOP has embraced power over principle.

Weaponizing Government Against Political Opponents
From threats to prosecute rivals to purging civil servants, Republicans are turning the state into a partisan weapon.

Attacks on Reproductive Rights
The party has led the rollback of abortion access and bodily autonomy, even in cases of rape or medical emergency.

Promotion of Conspiracy Theories and Misinformation
From QAnon to COVID to election denial, the GOP has become a breeding ground for dangerous falsehoods.

Undermining Press Freedom
Labeling journalists as “enemies of the people” and spreading disinformation to discredit factual reporting.

Climate Denial and Environmental Rollbacks
Blocking clean energy, gutting environmental protections from known carcinogens and harmful pollution, and denying science while the planet burns.

Suppression of Voting Rights
Gerrymandering, voter ID laws, and purges designed to silence opposition and rig outcomes.

Fiscal Hypocrisy and Exploding Deficits
Trillions added to the debt while claiming to be fiscally responsible — all to fund tax cuts for the rich.

Corporate Welfare and Tax Breaks for Billionaires
Massive giveaways to the ultra-wealthy while working families get crumbs and broken promises.

Encouraging Political Violence and Failing to Condemn It
From January 6 to threats against officials, silence or complicity has become the norm.

Cuts to Social Safety Nets
Slashing Medicaid, food aid, and disability support while claiming to defend “real Americans.”

Denial, Attack and Disregard for Scientific Expertise and Public Health
COVID denial, anti-vaccine rhetoric, and rejection of basic science have endangered lives.

Undermining Public Education and Promoting Censorship
Book bans, attacks on teachers, and politicized curricula threaten intellectual freedom.

Cult-Like Loyalty to Individual Leaders
Loyalty to Trump overrides law, ethics, and even longstanding conservative principles.

Sexual Misconduct and Exploitation
Repeated scandals involving underage women and failure to hold perpetrators accountable.

Isolationist Foreign Policy
Abandoning and maligning allies and cozying up to dictators weakens America’s global standing.

Masked Goon Squads
Using anonymous force against civilians during protests — a chilling abuse of power.

Destroying Consumer Safety and Financial Protections
Deregulation has left Americans vulnerable to scams, unsafe products, and corporate abuse.

Inflation Without Relief
Policies that worsen inflation while blocking efforts to ease the burden on working families.

I'm not wrong on any of these...

I will take all of these over losing my job because of Democrats immigration policies

Hierarchy of needs

I need to work to support my family.

So you are a day laborer or picking vegetables and fruit in hot weather? No undocumented immigrant has been in competition for your job. In fact, you probably hired illegals to take care of your brats and clear you pig sty house. You are a fool.

This is a remarkably short-sighted and simplistic perspective. Initial illegals may be unskilled laborers and others in menial employment roles. Their children benefit from taxpayer funded education and social welfare support; many go on to become better educated, and consequently competitive for jobs requiring more language and other skills. At that point, those 2nd gen illegals are beginning to compete with legal immigrants and with citizens. The laws of supply and demand dictate inexorably that as the supply of better skilled workers increased, regardless of immigration status, competition among them for jobs will increase, depressing wages. Eliminating illegal workers results in a smaller workforce, and less competition for employment. Employers seeking employees have to become more attractive in order to compete successfully. Econ 101.

There's no such thing as a "2nd gen illegal." If they were born here they are citizens. And even so they are still not as likely to be competing with you for jobs and you still have a huge leg up on them.

+1 wtf

By this logic, legal immigrants (and their kids) are just as much of a threat and also just people who have a lot of kids??

It's not finite over time, PP
The economy grows, new companies, new jobs, etc

There are already numerous instances detailed in the various "GOP Scandals" threads and indeed many involve anal sex. The PP may have been trying to make a crude sniping joke about Dems but it's one that backfires on Republicans every single time.

In the Mehdi Hassan vs conservatives debate thread I watched the video and there was a weird dynamic where several people suggested Mehdi Hassan was not a citizen despite being legally naturalized as a citizen, one of them was a young blonde woman who then says her parents were immigrants who came and became citizens - Mehdi used her own argument against her by suggesting perhaps her own parents weren't citizens and should perhaps be deported because they came as immigrants. The waves of confusion and bewilderment on her face were subtle yet palpable as realization dawned on her.

Your post shows a remarkably short-sighted and simplistic perspective.

What has made the United States a world leader in the past few decades is its brain power, innovation, research, flexibility, openness, desirability, freedom, etc etc etc. Non-US citizens and immigrants are embedded in every part of what makes this country great and (since some of you only care about the almighty $) wealthy.

What are you expecting to happen to all of our research when the brightest minds no longer can and no longer want to come here???

Thank you very little, Trump voters. You are destroying our country with your small mindedness.

Econ 101.

What are “2nd gen illegals”? From where I come, they’re called citizens.

+1 wtf

By this logic, legal immigrants (and their kids) are just as much of a threat and also just people who have a lot of kids??

It's not finite over time, PP
The economy grows, new companies, new jobs, etc

"Econ 101"???

In the Mehdi Hassan vs conservatives debate thread I watched the video and there was a weird dynamic where several people suggested Mehdi Hassan was not a citizen despite being legally naturalized as a citizen, one of them was a young blonde woman who then says her parents were immigrants who came and became citizens - Mehdi used her own argument against her by suggesting perhaps her own parents weren't citizens and should perhaps be deported because they came as immigrants. The waves of confusion and bewilderment on her face were subtle yet palpable as realization dawned on her.

They were, not smart.
