No, WE are NOT the monsters. Let's just be clear here. And yes, he and MCPS administrators who silently allowed his behavior to continue and promoted him should be blasted all over the media. Silence is not the answer despite how much he or MCPS wants it to be.

Yes you are! He isn’t the president. He is a principal like thousands of other people. Let it go! The damage is done.

You mean did HE think of his children? This is on him. His choice to victimize dozens of adults AND hundreds of children. His family can move away. The repercussions of HIS assaults are going to last for years.

Since when did harassment become assaults. Stop reaching for the extreme.

Harassment is against the law!!! He is a criminal! And he wasn’t thinking of any consequences when he did this… personally or professionally.

Again thank you for clarifying that it’s not assault.

Verbal assaults so far. But no investigation yet. Let’s see what develops.

Like Todd Watkins telling everyone he didn’t do nything wrong. His sentencing is in September.

He stole thousands of dollars. Totally different story. You guys are reaching.

Then why exact same response from MCPS?

Cover up, deny, Ignore.

Todd Watkins stole over a million. But stealing from children is acceptable just like sexually harassing them is acceptable.

If you want to be accurate, Watkins didn't steal a thing. He is charged with misconduct in office, not theft. He was negligent in his management and oversight of Charles Ewald, who was found guilty of embezzlement.

None of it is acceptable.

Agreed. He's just like the priests in the Catholic Church who are accused of misconduct. The actions are terrible, but the greater crime is the institution that covers for them and allows even more abuse to continue. Someone has to step up and be a real leader and protect the vulnerable.

The man gave up his right of privacy when he committed these acts AND also responded to the allegations in the article.

oh please! That doesn’t mean you drag him all over social media for his kids to be humiliated. Social media gives less attention to pedophiles, murderers, and rapist.

And so the excuse-making continues. No wonder the guy allegedly got away with harassing colleagues and bad-mouthing kids so long.

So find a new job. These aren’t children we are talking about here. Let it go people. The witch hunt is over. Imagine if all the wrong you did was made public for your children to see. What goes around comes around.

Stop. It is unfathomable that people would refrain from demanding answers from the BoE and MCPS Administration just because this guy might be embarrassed that his (flagrant, offensive, illegal) wrongdoing would be highlighted.

Yes, I feel for his children, but I feel for them because their father didn't think about them before sending 500 unwanted sext messages to a subordinate. Not because people found out.

I'd wait to see if there was consensual participating before making that judgment. Likely more to the story than we know and I'm certain he wasn't texting 500 times without a receiving responses

This isn't OK in either a personal or professional setting. Someone is sick to say something like that. Maybe he was trashed, which is possible. But alcoholism is a sickness. And it's one that imposes its destruction on others.

In the living room, Beidleman told her: “You should just f--- me. Everybody thinks you should,” according to the complaint and two of those present. He turned to his co-workers and asked them: “Don’t you think she should just f--- me?” The teacher, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she fears retaliation from Beidleman and MCPS, quickly left.

You want accurate? He already admitted to setting up a scheme to rob MCPS of over a million in his plea deal. His words. John McCarthy is allowing him to plead to a lesser charge.

What he did- stealing over a million in MCPS funds from school children - is a fact.

One of Joel's MCPS allies and enablers has decided that the best use of their time is to wage war with critics on anonymous forum.

Newsflash: Put your energy to good use and help your friend out with the investigation he has going on. Not here. DCUM holds no power over Joel's fate.

I know a couple teachers who spoke to MCPS compliance but didn't file a formal complaint. Can investigators get access to those notes?

This situation was predictable (not a matter of if but rather when) and to a large extent it was all preventable. The county has enabled and covered up abuse in the school for decades. For some background for those you who may be unaware of this history please read this http://www.jennifergross.net/uploads/2/6/7/2/26721646/changes_needed_by_mcps__2018.pdf It's long, I know. If you do take the time to read it, please know I submitted this to the county ex, BOE, council and MCPS over 5 years ago and none of the recommendations were implemented. Had they been implemented many of the (dozens and dozens of cases of abuse by employees made public) would not have occurred. My kids are now out of MCPS (last one graduated in June) and my last name has changed but my commitment to fix this and hold people accountable has not. I've been in a few interviews w/ media this week. I've sent updated requests for action from county leaders as well. Please reach out if you want more info (much of which is hyper linked in the document). For those of you speaking out - THANK YOU. For those of you who are non believers, bless your hearts, educate yourselves.

These posts are so cringe and just fuel the already widespread belief that this guy has been treated with kid gloves for years because he was a demographic MCPS leadership looked to elevate at every opportunity.

Let’s turn this conversation to the future of MCPS. What can we do to change the current leadership?

Vote in the next election cycle for new BoE members. Too many of us in MoCo pay little to no attention to those races and candidates.

This exactly. The BoE has a ton of power including who becomes the Superintendent.

Stop pretending like the wrong he did is normal everyday stuff that we all regularly see on the job. Besides, more than half the stuff you see on the media is blasting MCPS for sweeping his despicable behavior under the rug and then promoting him.

This man is being publicly humiliated for the same actions millions of men in leadership have done. Is it right? NO
It isn’t about making it go away, it’s about stop the public shaming and let justice take its course. So what makes it ok for the media to run this story in the ground and blast him all over media for his children to be humiliated, degraded and embarrassed. Give the same attention to murderers and pedophiles.

You, just like MCPS administrators, are literally asking us to keep quiet just like they've been wanting the victims to for years. You do realize that if it weren't for the media, this would never have come to light.

I think everyone got their point across. LET IT GO and let the system take its course. Enough of blasting him. Go back to your life.

You’re not helping him because you’re antagonizing the people who most need to feel heard. And haven’t been heard.
