I guess head to head has no bearing.

Prep has been doing the exact same things for decades and hates the idea they are no longer on top of the DMV lax pyramid. Prep has had players on its roster from California, Arizona, Florida, and Canada over the years. I'm cool with it, Prep does have a boarding component. That doesn't mean other area programs that don't have boarding programs, should be shunned if they have families on the roster willing to house a kid for a year or two.

Look at the most recent facts... Prep's FOGOs for the past 2 seasons have been transfers from Richmond privates. The best player on its roster this Spring has played now at 3 different IAC teams in the league - the first time the league has ever seen this.

Prep has a very good team this year but sadly they didn't have the balls to put it out on the line with SJC. Both teams were off yesterday, off today and tomorrow. The CADETS wanted to play but the Lil Hoyas said "no thanks".

He played 2022 until he reclassed and then switched to DC Dogs. This is his 5th year of HS in IAC. JV at Landon in 2019.

I think the key to success for a lot of the prep players including the one who played at three IAC schools is that they always played up in youth lacrosse. My DS is now in college but when he was in youth lacrosse he was on the same teams with these players. They always played up in age and that has helped make them the players that they are.

And the kid, like everyone else, lost a year due to Covid. He transferred originally in order to reclass, then transferred again. Weird situation, but he's a great player and by all accounts a great kid.

The bottom line is that all the premier schools look to add kids and we are talking about HIGH SCHOOL. If a kid wants a different situation for whatever reason, great - more power to him and his family.

Instead of hating on SJC, appreciate Speaks and co. for good coaching and adding another blue blood to the DC lacrosse scene. Their model is different - more one sport lacrosse kids than other schools - which is totally fine if that's what those kids and those families want.

I have said it on here before. Prep's lacrosse program was the best in the area for years. Their supporters were very vocal to tell other programs they were nothing compared to the Little Hoya's. I had to hear it all the time at places in Bethesda or up on the DC side of Connecticut Ave in CC or Cleveland Park. Then, SJC took off and beat them and then continued to beat them. Suddenly, Prep people lost their minds and began to roll out every criticism they could at SJC. The most amusing was the Kevin Plank stuff. I always found that funny since Kevin was a Prep student until they kicked him out with two others guys and they all ended up at SJC. Prep is not a bad lax program, but their backers have a hard time dealing with SJC rising in the lacrosse rankings and overtaking them. Prep has hung its athletic success on the lacrosse shelf for years. They liked to hold that over the WCAC since they sure couldn't do it with football/basketball or baseball. There is a reason Prep won't play GZ in football anymore. Or should I say, there is a reason GZ won't play Prep. Its not competitive for GZ.

Did he have good games v the Hawks 2022 goalie or the Team 91 attack who must have also played “up”

Neutral Observer Here: Long a time fan of area HS lacrosse so allow me to provide some history...

Landon's program has been one of the best in the area for decades. Prep came along under Giblin and they battled it out for years for DC supremacy, then DeMatha cam to the mix under Coach Dick Long. Gonzaga became the new kid on the block under Casey O'Neil, then Waters at PVI. Bellistri has always been at Bullis but was an assistant coach and never the HC until 2015. Bullis really began garnering national attention once Bellistri took them over.

In the past 5 years, I'd make the argument Bullis has been the best and most consistent program in the DC area, always top of the IAC, and battled it out with Gonzaga from the WCAC. Both Prep and Landon have had a few head coaching changes since both Bordley and Giblin left. Urick, now in his 6th year at Prep seems to have settled as Hoyas are loaded this year. McGettigan is in year 2 at Landon I believe. I believe King is also in year 2 at Gonzaga. After a rough first season, Gonzaga seems back to their usual ways (top of the WCAC) and contending with national caliber programs.

Speaks has now been at SJC for 5 years, you have to give him credit, he has established SJC as a national power. You don't have to agree with their approach but they are clearly doing something right at SJC and it's a good thing for DMV lacrosse.

He was on Hawks until he reclassed. So he wouldn’t have played Big Tasty until this year. Big Tasty played the whole time with 22s (of course he turned 19 already). The Prep kid did not and immediately played with 23s when he reclassed.

He is not a post grad. He is a senior who is headed to Duke next year. He wanted to play against better competition for his senior year.

Prep was able to more than compete with WCAC schools in football and basketball the '60s and 70s and periodically since then. What changed was the recruiting practices of the WCAC powerhouses and the fact that they are larger and have much lower admissions standards. Prep can still compete with the WCAC in baseball, soccer, and hockey.

Will tonight’s Gonzaga vs STA game be live streamed? Link?

Gonzaga is cheap and doesn't live stream events.

Prep probably can compete with SJC in soccer. SJC beat Prep 2 out of 3 this year in hockey. SJC baseball....probably not, they are 19-0 right now

Point is that most if not all the top players in this area re-classed. Kudos to the few that are on age.
