US SOCCER as a whole is full of tired and primitive thinking people with tired and primitive ideas yet have the arrogance to think everyone else is doing it wrong.

Oh you have no idea the level of resistance to change imbedded. There is little competition for jobs on and off the field. Enhance no need to change anything. They think they gave god’s gift to women soccer. I really doubt there will be much change on this roster for the next World Cup.

The US does things its way and Europe does its thing it’s way. Once college b-ball and football go semi-pro and the money dries up for other college athletics, things here will change on the college soccer front, likely spelling the end of most women’s pro team sports (except WNBA) at any meaningful level as the money and interest are not there. This will drive the top young US soccer playing women to sign with Euro clubs. MLS will never subsidize women’s teams unless there is money to be made and as long as pro US soccer ranks below b-ball, football, baseball, and hockey in this country the money won’t be there. The USWNT will continue to compete and be top 5 in the world, year after year. I mean look how bad they are this time and they are still top 4.

I'd love to hear how you think you'll get fans to still root for the laundry while separating the payment structure sufficiently to avoid title IX

Same way a city roots for its team even thought its owned by a private owner. It’s all about the name and marketing. The players won’t even have to be students but they likely will be but be employees of the affiliated but not school owned or administers sports franchise.

Put them name on a mens jersey and market them as associated with the school and you'll end up risking a massive judgment under title IX.

Life’s all about risk and return and if the football coaches and ADs get to keep their million dollar salaries … it may be worth the risk. Pretty soon the SEC football gods will be calling all the shots.

The future is there will be a women's national team. It will be a top team. It will be paid with very high base salaries and benefits, but less money based on victories. There will be more money than before because their political pressure got FIFA to promise to increase the payout for the women's side of World Cup, and possibly other tournaments.

Ironically the fear of turning a huge profit in order to avoid paying players has lead to massively inflated AD salaries and a willingness to buy out coaches at insane numbers. Start paying players and there will be downward pressure on both AD and coach salaries .

So I do not know about that. The stars/big names want to be paid the same as the men. This means no salary certainly not a very high base salary. They want a high game check and part of the purse. This will work out great for the stars but not so much for the rest of the team and players not in the pool are screwed.
The pay out for the wwc was 30 million mwc paid out 400 million. You also have to factor the money in the men side vs women side internationally. The USMNT can play a friendly against England and make a boatload of money. The women can not do that. They do not draw like England’s national team.

In other sports unionization leveled the pay between top stars and lower level players.

If there’s money going to women’s soccer salaries and only the stars are vacuuming it up, expect a unionization push.
I don’t think that type of inequality is the problem though. Instead, the lack of money is the problem.

Why are you commenting on something you obviously know nothing about. How could you not know that the national teams both collectively bargain?

My guess is that PP was referring to league salary structures and not NT.

The US is full of tired payment practices that keep women soccer players underpaid despite outstanding performance.

Gosh, funny how the “tired” women scored a bunch in the last game…

PP has been stating this opinion in every. single. thread.

US Soccer is broken, only PP has known this and how to fix it, wishing a death spiral on USWNT, blah, blah...

So folks are still in denial.

Maybe. But your posts have become dull. Say something interesting or insightful.

This is intended to be a discussion. I’m aware you have to get past your own “we are amazing and will always be amazing”. Those posts have been so informative as well.

Except that no one says that. Only you, in every thread.

+1 Thank you, PP.

Because Mr. Negativity is dull.

And communist lovers. It wets me to know they aren’t achieving anything in the olympics. Just beautiful.

They achieved more than most.

….and got a bunch of goals scored on them. They are an average to below average team of old tired players.

Why don’t the women just try out and play for the men’s team. They would get a higher salary for the same level of play as the men.

Bronze medal = average. WC holders. Huh? How do you figure that’s average? But, yes, yes we know that for this last tourney that they did not meet historical expectations. Canada, Sweden, Australia, France, Italy, Netherlands, England, Spain, US, Brazil, Japan, Germany, Norway. Rank them. As of right now.

People are so apologist about the USWNT, love to make excuse after excuse. No qualms about trashing the USMNT brutally. Even with the competition of men’s teams around the world so insanely greater in comparison.
