USWNT: Are people finally ready to talk accept and talk about the future?

Anonymous
Now that they will do no better than bronze are the USWNT fans ready to accept the flaws of US Soccer moving forward?

Anyone who has actually watched this team without blinders on could see this outcome from miles away and now that it happened what will the USWNT have to do to get back on top and stay there for years to come?

What do you want to talk about? If you have an opinion then state it. That was a complete nothing way to start a thread.

PP has been stating this opinion in every. single. thread.

US Soccer is broken, only PP has known this and how to fix it, wishing a death spiral on USWNT, blah, blah...

So folks are still in denial.

1. Cultivate talent at younger ages. Prioritize technical and game IQ as much as athleticism regardless of the package it comes in at 8/9/10 years old.
2. Make ODP relevant again. There needs to be a competitive ID process that is league agnostic.

There is certainly more to do but that is a start.

No, which people have acknowledged over and over.

You saw it first, OP, and are the messiah.

That better?

Not everyone is as interested in reforming the US Soccer system. Some of us just want to watch fun games, and really don't care which teams play said games.

I'd wait until the World Cup to make judgments, not a tournament where the players get no money.

Sure, let's talk about how no women's team has clamed the WC and Olympic titles back-to-back.

Ok, but what happens when they are no longer fun games? I presume you believe they are fun because they would win.

See bolded. If SWENT dominates the next few years, more power to them. I'll watch.

Enjoy your crusade, PP.

Have all the players train and play in Europe. Better yet if they had dual US citizenship and grew up there.

That’s how the Men are starting to reverse course

This assumes of course that we can't right our own domestic league ship.

Invite fresh talent to training camps each year. Do not include the same kid twice in one year. There are sooooo many kids playing soccer, don't be lazy.
Do not allow MOM recruiters to select her kid or anyone from her kids club to training camp.
Hire more recruiters to watch more games.

Problem of course is that training for girls in Europe is not comparable to what is available for boys. The highest transfer fee paid for a female soccer player is €250,000. As a result, there is currently no financial incentive for clubs to train and develop girls in Europe. In fact, in many cities in Germany, France, Spain and England, there are no girls teams at the youth levels. Good young players have to play on a boys team. If you talk to US citizens who have spent a few years in Europe for work or military, they will tell you that US is much better, with many more options, for youth girls soccer. As much as many like to poo-poo US soccer development for young girls, it is still better than the alternatives in other countries.

That is obviously not true on the boys side, where the financial incentives are in place for much better identification and development of boy soccer players in many countries, with the US far behind.

Rapinoe, Morgan, Lloyd, Heath, Press should be thanked for their past achievements and retire from international soccer. They need to start rebuilding the team around younger players like Lavelle and Macario. And, yes, they will need to fix the youth development system, because other countries are catching up, but that's easier said than done with USSF running the show.
