When is the Delta variant supposed to hit?

I did my part and got vaccinated, so I’m done and over it. And I’m sure I’m not alone.

But to answer your question, it is already hitting Missouri and Colorado. Case numbers will go up everywhere in the next month.

Wrong

Those RED states are going to be filled with the variant. HAHAHAHAHA zero empathy. Yep that's right zero.

Disturbingly unkind. And I’m a very liberal Dem. You are the reason this great country remains so broken. These are human beings you are talking about. People who only know what they live. Instead of wishing them dead, maybe help show them a better way?

I also find this comment abhorrent, but we’ve been trying to show some of these states a better way since Reconstruction. They are not interested.

Racial and ethnic minorities are still trailing whites in vaccination rates. Is that due to rank stupidity as well? No, there are barriers to access to vaccines for many groups. Don't be obtuse. Some of that may be going on in these RED states, too.

It will be hitting just after July 4, then after labor day, and in time for the start of the school year.

Humanity is a lost cause these days. Sick.

Delta variant should not be taken lightly; there's evidence it is infecting even vaccinated adults. To wit, Israel recently reinstated an indoor mask mandate due to a wave of new infections. Apparently some 70% of those new infections were caused by the Delta variant, and about half of those cases affected people believed to have been fully vaccinated with Pfizer. Sure, the vaccine may prevent hospitalization and death, but infection still is quite possible, and there are long-haul symptoms that may endure for those who are. It seems likely that the rush to return to normalcy will bring about another waive, which could very well affect the vaccinated as well as unvaccinated. At this point, probably best to proceed with caution, as it's clear (in this country, anyways) each of us is on our own.

This. The death toll in unvaxxed states will be climbing by December.

Mask wearing is going to come back.

Not because vaccinated people need them, but because those who have chosen not to be vaccinated are not going to wear a mask voluntarily. Ironically, almost every adult you see wearing a mask these days is vaccinated. The unmasked could go either way.

How do you know whether a masked person is vaccinated or not.

Logically speaking - who would care enough about Covid to voluntarily wear a mask but not enough to go get vaccinated if qualified?

Yeah well get ready folks for Lambda!

June 29, 2021 -- A new coronavirus variant that has infected thousands in South America has now been discovered in the UK.

Classified as a "variant of interest" by the World Health Organization (WHO) on June 17, the lambda variant has been detected in 29 nations — seven of them in Latin America. In Peru, where it was first identified, the lambda variant now accounts for 82% of new infections.

What “rush to normalcy?” It’s been over 15 months since we shut down for two weeks.

Are medical systems going to be overrun? Due to vaccinations, that isn’t going to happen in the US. We’re never going to have zero cases.

This is why I'm not losing sleep (or changing my lifestyle) over any of the variants. DH and I are vaccinated, we take reasonable precautions for our under-12 kids and will get them vaxxed when it's approved. Most likely, if any of us do get COVID it will be very mild.

Unless it's not. Good luck out there, y'all.

I wasn't aware the Delta variant was supposed to do anything.
