When is the Delta variant supposed to hit?

Anonymous
It’s not strange or a mystery. Delta is more infectious. Unvaccinated people even those who had CO.v.iD before are at very high risk. LA has a high vaccine rate at 60% fully vaccinated over 12. This leaves 40% of the population over 12 and all the population under 12 at risk.

Arkansas only has 34% of their population over 18 vaccinated.

Thank you, that gives me some perspective. Although, I am pretty flippin' cautious about ticks.

For those thinking they are safe from Delta because they had COVID look at LA. 500 new cases yesterday among the unvaccinated population even though it was estimated that 1 in 3 people in LA already had COV.iD.

Yeah, people need to get vaccinated.

Niece is a pharmacist who speaks regularly with colleagues. All agree there is something very strange going on

Strange how? There has bee much strangeness in all of this since the very beginning, but I am curious as to what a pharmacist thinks is strange currently.

Just chiming in to say that while it’s not yet confirmed, it appears that the Delta variant does indeed lead to significantly more hospitalizations for unvaccinated individuals than the Alpha (UK) variant.

It is already established that Delta is 40-60% more transmissible than Alpha, which is 50% more transmissible than the original Wuhan strain.

Please do not dismiss news and updates about variants.

Yeah the UK begs to differ.

The Delta variant is not driving a surge in hospitalization rates in England, health data shows.

That’s not what the poster was saying.
They’re saying that the delta variant is more likely to cause a hospitalization in unvaccinated individuals.
The data we need: the proportion of unvaccinated individuals in the hospital for the delta variant.
Of course there might not be a surge if there aren’t many unvaccinated individuals to begin with.

BZZT! Wrong answer. Lyme isn't contagious. Neither are car accidents or drownings, the other two COVID minimizing calling cards of ignorant people who think they're smarter than they are.

I'm up north in a New England blue state. I am the only one masking indoors, maybe one or two people with me. Was in a large ice cream place yesterday with a huge crowd indoors and not one person was wearing a mask besides myself and my 20 year old, who is vaxxed.

So anyone blaming red states? Nope. Blue state, tons of tourists, very few masks.

Drownings are almost always fatal. Covid rarely is for vaccinated and/or kids.

Umm, it might not be contagious in the strict sense but did you know you can get it from a mosquito and not just a tick? UMMC infectious Lyme specialist informed me it doesn't have to be a tick! Do you know you can get myriad other illnesses from ticks too?
And do you know what you would wish if you got Lyme and didn't catch it right away? You will wish it killed you. Plus, pregnant mothers can transmit it to their fetuses. Oh, and do you venture outside, why aren't you scared of Lyme disease when it is everywhere, nonstop? Who cares if it is contagious when it spreads faster than Lyme does in the DMV.
Perhaps it doesn't fit in your narrative so you dismiss it?

There's some depressing reading. I have woods surrounding my property, and I've gotten so many tick bites the past couple of months. Seems like they're abnormally bad this year.
