I’m actually a little pissed about how many unmasked elementary kids I’m seeing in the stores already. Took my kid on errands all day with me, and I regret it already. |
If the teachers are fully vaccinated: why???? Even my 78-year old (RN nurse of 30 years) no longer wears a mask. |
Duran has already given the go ahead for staff to take off their masks at recess or other outdoor activities, next year kids won’t wear them at recess. Time will tell about the classroom. |
Seeing as Duran is still wearing his mask outdoors even when nobody else is near, yes, I think masks will be at APS until Covid completely disappears. |
LOL- this is the stupidest thread. He had a mask on outside, so what? I don’t think it needs any foolish interpreting. I cannot believe the stuff people get hung up about. The masks are coming off eventually. He isn’t crazy- but you might be. Thank God these people weren’t Londoners during the blitz! “I’ll turn my damn lights off if I WANT to!” A couple extra weeks of caution ain’t killing anybody. |

It would be helpful if people on these threads stated what type of school they were talking about (HS, MS, ES) given that older students can be vaccinated. What kind of school, PP, are you talking about? |
I’m a high school teacher. I think they’ll probably come off for them this fall, and I’d be okay with that. Most of my colleagues are, too. I’m also an elementary parent, and I’d like the little ones to wear them inside until they’ve all had a chance to get vaccinated. |
Middle school should, too. There are still kids too young to have been vaxxed there. |
Same. |
Because the children are not vaccinated and they are known super-spreaders. If they are ALL vaccinated then no problem but if they are NOT ALL VACCINATED then it is a big problem. I don't want to get sick even if I've been vaccinated because I don't want long-term repercussions from being sick. If you want to take the risk for yourself, then go for it. I don't want the risk for myself and I will quit if we are told in August that no kids in our middle school classrooms will be masked, whether they are vaccinated or not. With the exception of 1 teacher of the 17 I've polled in my grade level, we all feel the same way. We want masks on everyone until everyone has PROVED that they have been vaccinated. |
+1 |
I think it’s would be reasonable for HS to be mask optional. Elementary, middle, and 6-12 schools (like HB) should remain masked until 6-8 weeks after 5+ are authorized to be vaccinated. So maybe post thanksgiving or post winter break, indoors. |
If the teaching staff and admin staff are fully vaccinated---please tell me what the issue is ? That's why fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks in restaurants and stores, etc. It's the part of the reason for vaccination. As a fully vaccinated person, I have no qualms about going into a restaurant to have a meal with unmasked patrons (not knowing their vaccination status). I think some education needs to be done. Now if a staff member is immune compromised or has some other situation where the vaccine may not be protective or they can't get vaccinated, Okay. |
I'm very confused... if teachers/staff are fully vaccinated, why do they care about masks on kids??
That should be at the risk of the student's family, not the teacher.. |
Yes I agree that you need some education on why we should keep masking requirements for the unvaccinated in schools. |
