No more MoCo indoor masks!

I'm still confused about kids. Ostensibly any business can say masks still required. So we go to Giant - do my kids 7 and 10 year olds have to wear one and DH and I (vaccinated) don't? What about outdoor summer camps - like if it's an org on school property, who makes the decision?

Are we all supposed to carry our cards in case someone challenges us? I'm hoping all these questions become moot and we can trust each other enough...

I’m with you on this, the guidance is pretty confusing. But using the store example, I went into a D&D this morning and they still have a sign requiring masks, so I wore one even though I’m fully vaxxed. If a store no longer has a mask requirement, from now until May 28th the county is saying unvaxxed people still need to be masked up, although I doubt store personnel is asking for proof of vaccination. As of May 28th, there is no more mask mandate in the county (other than schools, public transport, doctors offices), so if an individual business isn’t requiring masks no one has to wear one, regardless of whether they are vaxxed or not. I’m still waiting for guidance on camp this summer. My kids are too young to be vaxxed so I have no problem with them masking on the bus and anytime they are inside, but it would be great if they didn’t have to mask while outside.

I went to Trader Joe's last night and haven't seen a single maskless person. Not one! And I'm vaccinated, as, I'm sure, is the overwhelming majority of people who were there at the time.
Just my 2 cents.

Hope people will mind their own business.

I suggest you switch from your mask to a full burka! This way you'll also be able to save money on clothes/shoes and hair care. Imagine those savings!!!
Ugh.

Is Trader Joe’s still requiring masks though? A lot of stores are still requiring masks even if the county is not.

I’ve not gone into a store that has dropped the mask requirement and I wonder if I will feel comfortable taking it off once I do. Not because I don’t feel safe, because I’m fully vaxxed and feel protected, but just because I don’t want to get hassled by other people!

I was ready to not wear my mask at Aldi this AM, but they still have the mask requirement posted on their door. I wore mine as did everyone else in the store.

As I'm reading it, they're "removing all restrictions" on the 28th which seems to imply that I'm not required to wear a mask even though there's still several days left until I hit two weeks.

Yes.

That's sort of like asking if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Of course it does, but how would anyone know? And why does it matter?

The mask requirement is effectively gone for adults right now, but yes, technically you're supposed to wait until 2 weeks after the last dose. Come May 28th, the mask requirement goes away for everyone- vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Because they're not fully vaccinated yet, so they should wear a mask to protect themselves and others.

I would wear a mask for the staff, because the staff don't know that I'm fully vaccinated.

I wish the masks worked on my allergies! The last few days have been so brutal, I actually tried wearing a mask just to see if it would help but it did nothing. I agree with the makeup part though, I said to DH earlier today that I will miss skipping makeup now that I don’t have to wear a mask. My skin got a nice break between not having to be in the office and not wearing makeup other than eye makeup when I did go out because I had to wear a mask anyway.

So for the masking-for-allergies people, do you wear the masks in your yard too, and in your house if the windows are open? I'm still spending the majority of my time at home as I'm teleworking and am not sure how wearing a mask for the times I do go out in the neighborhood, etc. would make a meaningful difference in allergy reduction since I'm not wearing it all the time.

Oh FFS. Kids under 12 are not at serious risk from COVID! Have your kid wear a mask and move on. If nothing else, that will reduce the viral load of any SARS-CoV2 floating around, and they'll be even less likely to get sick.

-Mom of three kids under 12

I don't get why you put mom to three. Most mom's to three are pretty checked out and stopped caring, like you. Its good you have spare kids just incase one gets/dies of covid but for the rest of us with less kids, its an issue. You can minimize covid but you are why many of us don't feel safe. Mine will not be going anywhere indoors, seeing friends or family or much else because many people lack good judgement and don't care who they put at risk, like you.

Clearly you haven't actually looked at the data on the efficacy of the vaccines two weeks after the first dose.

If the J&J vaccines counts at all, then certainly one dose of Pfizer/Moderna should count.

My plan is that I'll carry a mask to stores so I can put it on if/when I need to interact with staff, but not wear it as I'm walking through the store.
