Especially since They sent out an email to all families saying in order to reduce stress this year all kids were getting a spot. This has been anything but stressful for the kids. |
| Horrible and no communication whatsoever from the club or coaches on what is going on or where things stand. |
It's that way at our Club currently too. This year has been crazy. Since Clubs didn't have tryouts last year and kids were just kept on same teams---the upheaval, kids moving around is greater than all prior years. Kids also were kept on teams they no longer fit/didn't have the skill for anymore because of Covid. It's taking more time EVERYWHERE. Signed, someone not a McLean |
| rising U10 is the worst. Placement was totally a guess and kids who sat out this year showed up for tryouts. At least the kids don't care and just want to stay where they are |
I assume this should be "stress free"? |
Look, I agree that there needs to be some level of stress so kids push themselves and don't have a spot just handed to them. However, McLean "stressed" several times that because of Covid they wanted to make tryouts as stress free for its current families as possible. Their words, not mine. Now it appears they are seeing the writing on the wall with deflections and are changing their tune. Current players who remained loyal are screwed if they didn't try out elsewhere or declined spots. We won't make this same mistake twice. |
Yes there is a mad scramble going on. Never assume the club reciprocates your loyalty no matter what |
| Still crickets. Current McLean 2009 Family. |
| Yes the wait is tough on the players, that is for sure. |
| I’m so mad at myself for not agreeing to try other clubs out of loyalty and wanting to stay with friends. I will never make that mistake again. I don’t think I’m the only one. |
Live and learn. We learned it the hard way too with our firstborn. Always have something in your back pocket. |
|
I feel sorry for the kids. It's disrespectful and shows how little commitment the club has to its own families. Most surprising, though, it shows terrible planning skills! Other clubs might be cutthroat and heartless but they are more organized about the process.
But you all don't have to put up with it. There are plenty of clubs close by that are as good and better. Many are still holding tryouts. Many would likely be open to adding a few players, maybe even a bunch of players. Why say you won't make the mistake next year instead of looking now? |
| Who is still within the tryouts window? |
smaller clubs are adding supplementals, but if you want ECNL/GA/MLSnext you may be out of luck |
depends on age group. Arlington 2010-2012 tryouts start tonight. 2005 & 2006 start this Wednesday. http://www.arlingtonsoccer.com/programs/travel/tryout-information/tryout-schedule-notification-info PAC has tryouts this week and next for all age groups both boys and girls http://www.premierac.org/ |
