DP. This is not the issue and you know it. No one is suggesting that public weed smokers get locked up. I and the other PPs are simply saying that the person shouldn't be doing it at a bus stop near a school or anywhere else in public for that matter.

People seem to think they can smoke weed wherever they want now that it's been decriminalized. That's not how this works.

Why smoke at all when there are so many other ways to ingest marijuana (edibles come to mind)? Unless it's the smoking itself that's the addiction and the substance doesn't matter. AFAIK, the law says that you can grow a small amount of weed at home and not go to jail for it, not that you can smoke it in public places. This being DC, of course, the police and the mayor don't care beyond optics so the latter part of my last sentence will never, ever be enforced.

Smoking gives a different high than edibles do which many people prefer. Vape cartridges sometimes have harmful substances in them.

You didn't read the whole thread. Someone mentioned a conversation with a DC LEO who said something like, "Tell us if you see pot smoking in public. We can talk to the person. But we can't make an arrest."

So I wouldn't say never ever. 'Almost never' may be accurate though, sadly.

Even before it was legalized, people smoked pot at my bus stop all the time. Police were nearby and did nothing. There was a playground right next to the bus stop too.

HAHA, as someone with a corner house in a very dog-centric neighborhood, do you realize how much dog shit is left in my yard? AND YES, I just deal with it and often clean it up myself, because the alternative is putting something down to repel the dogs, which could hurt them! What astonishes me is the number of people who toss a bag of picked up poo at a trash can, miss, and then walk away.

I'd take weed aroma any day (and I have a one year old). Get over yourselves, if your kids are dumb and/or messed up, it's because of your shitty genetics, not because you didn't lock up homeless people or teenagers partaking in a legal activity at a public bus stop. I'm sure Sidwell has drop off if you can afford it.

Should we then also just ignore public drunkenness? What's the difference between someone rolling on the floor because they're drunk or high? In OPs post, no one was rolling around on the floor. You do what you do when someone is smoking cigarettes in public and you don’t like the smell.
