Ward 4 was interesting because it showed another major crack in the Mayor's green machine. Todd was always in her pocket. Just like Bowser was "handpicked" to be the successor to Fenty, also Ward 4. I think electing Janeese was really a vote against Bowser. |
A candidate like Eric Adams would maybe. Black candidates don’t have to overcompensate and are on average much more pragmatic and rational than privileged white candidates like Allen. |
| Extremely long piece in today's Post on how DC Superior Judg Beal Kravitz applied Charles Allen's expanded Youth Rehabilitation Act to ensure that the 23 year old who left a loaded gun in a drawer will be out this spring with a clear record. Juwan T Ford did not call for help when notified that a 7 year old had accidentally shot a 4 year old with his gun. Rather, he cooly disposed of the gun and coached some child witnesses to lie. She miraculously survived with possible lifelong paralysis. As DC police have long complained, it was not his first illegal gun offense (something they see repeatedly in crimes). Meanwhile, DC has the toughest laws in the land for legal gun ownership. Thanks Charles Allen, woke City Council, and Judge Kravitz! |
Here's the very alarming WaPo article. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/interactive/2021/dc-kids-shooting-victims-guns/ Here's a Vox article, also from yesterday, that shows the strategies Charles Allen slobbers over might actually be doing more harm than good: https://www.vox.com/22580710/defund-the-police-reform-murder-spike-research-evidence |
Is it possible to have a moderate black candidate like the mayor of NYC? It's no longer practical to have these rich white men who have to consult a PR firm before responding to issues involving POC. So disgusting that awful people are given a clean slate while innocent victims live with paralysis etc. |
If I recall, the Shaw Stovepipe isn't his highest base of support. I think near Stanton Park is. |
| The Wash Post piece today should keep Allen up at night. Ford is not the kind of person you want to have back out on the streets. I guess the only good news is that he will have aged out of the the get out of jail free program when he commits his next gun offense - hope it’s not in Ward 6. |
There was one (Marcus Goodwin) who seemed moderate (which doesn't mean you lean right at all in DC, since the left is so left) in the last at-large election but no idea what Ward he lives in. |
Please do! I am more than willing to contribute financially and with energy and time to help in a campaign. |
They (Charles Allen's of DC) do not care about repeat illegal gun offenders, only legal, vetted gun owners. It's INSANE. And people are dying on repeat. |
| There was another piece in the same Post about all the people who have seized distance work to move OUT of DC--their reasons being $ and also civil unrest and crime. I'm guessing they are making a value proposition. Thanks Charles Allen and wokest of Councils for driving away decent neighbors! |
I would support you PP. He and his ilk are destroying this city. |
| Candidates for council are starting to announce their campaigns. If you are logical--if you are willing and able to hold police officers **and** criminals accountable--now is the time to get your campaign going. There are many like me out here willing to donate money and time to your campaign. |
| I'm surprised Denise Krepp hasn't mounted a challenge yet. She loathes Allen and is very popular in Ward 6. |
Agree. I would too. Time to fight the power. |
