If you want school to function similar to it has in the past vax the teachers and don't tell teachers shoulda woulda coulda to them.

See the Simulcast thread - parents now complaining kids in person are still on screens and having a crap time - yeah well dead teachers don't teach DL or IPL so this is what you get.

Demand CDC change their PPE and distance guidance to all the teachers screaming "science".

They’re not going to die at a higher rate than the rest of the community. Stop being dramatic.

But yet y’all want to criticize and say virtual teachers are not deserving of the vaccine.

Make up your mind and make your demands heard to the powers that be. Bowser is just punishing teachers by not prioritizing them for vaccinations.

Whenever I try to get an appointment I’m told I’m not 65 or essential worker. This is the reality. We have NOT been prioritized.

Maybe if some virtual teachers had made an effort to come to school for Term 3, they’d be vaccinated. Let’s stop this nonsense already. Schools all over the place are open. Hell, schools in Washington are open because many teachers chose to lead.

+1

I am a teacher but we need to stop acting like we’ve all been willing to go back in person. We haven’t and now we are demanding to be prioritized for vaccines? Come on.

So they won't have long term medical issues like the rest of the community too?

I love how you think 500,000 dead americans is not dramatic.

NP and 500,000 dead is dramatic but look at the statistics- the vast majority of those (about 360,000) are 65 or older. This is not the age group of most teachers. And I am fine with those teachers older than 65 continuing DL. Or they should have access to the vaccine at this point. It is important to look at the data rationally.

500,000 dead is a fact. For the PP it is not dramatic because they have not suffered a loss, they are just heartless.

I am the PP and have suffered tremendous loss during the pandemic- both due to COVID and not. I’ve lost three family members during the pandemic and could not say goodbye or spend time with any of them (they were not all elderly). Stating facts does not make me heartless. But you assuming you know anything about my life is more heartless than anything I wrote.

Repeating this talking point ad nauseam doesn't make it any more true. "Open schools", in any rational discussion about this, still means that kids are able to enter schools and being taught in person by teachers. Only teachers unions are trying to redefine the word "open" to suit their agenda.

Uh wouldn't that be parents? Grocery stores are still considered open even if they just deliver, same thing with any store providing ONLINE services. School is online, the service is still being provided.

The only ones who have a legal leg to stand on is parents with kids who have more than 5 hours outside of gen ed in their IEP. There's no legal amount of hours children must be taught only days, which are being given online, in person, or both.

Repeating you hate teacher honestly means nothing at this point too, nor does screaming open schools cause science. Obviously the 'science' is not compelling enough because many schools in the US are online or hybrid.

No, most people would not consider a store that provides only online service to be "open".

And we don't need to talk legal standing, this is an ethics issue. Yes, it is unethical what this country, alone among all developed nations, has done to kids during this pandemic.

But yes, you are correct, many people's fear is too great to be able to think rationally about the science. Sadly, I don't think there is any level of "compellingness", short of saying there is zero risk, that would sway enough people making decisions on this.

And where did I say I hate teachers? I don't. I just think your posts read like WTU talking point memos. I know you don't speak for all teachers.

1. What is their agenda?
2. Are you not doing any DL? So you aren't sending your child to school? They why do you care?

Dramatic is a subjective word - so its not a fact.

500,000 dead and if you can't see mourn your family passing in normal why would you add to your risk budget

My mom is a DCPS teacher and has gotten both doses. She selected in-person instruction but hasn’t been required to report yet. She’s 64 by the way and can’t wait to get back in the classroom.

Sorry, forgot to add “a store whose business model isn’t virtual to begin with”. Should have known it was necessary for this audience.

1. Their agenda is to keep schools closed until Covid is eradicated from the face of the earth.

2. I see you are trying to be clever, but you aren’t making any sense. Yes, my kids are doing DL. I don’t consider that meaningful school. They are learning because I am essentially homeschooling.
