again, if there is a disparate impact based on race, the point is that access needs to be extended in a different way. Saying “Ward 3 got all the spots because they prioritize literacy” doesn’t work. |
Sounds like their point was that you are making up the digital divide gap in some weird effort to justify race based COVID vaccinations. The data seems to indicate that the digital divide is made up and the 3000 people who don't have digital access probably don't want it or don't have other things they would rather worry about. So now that the digital divide has been tossed, why else are black people not savvy enough (words of another woke poster) to sign up for vaccinations? |
The city could put up sign up "kiosks". Elissa silverman + Charles Allen could man them. While they are on it, they could discuss why our wanna be green, inclusive city is throwing up so many hurdles for non-drivers to get the vaccine- like having zero sites in Ward 3. In a green city, shouldnt you be able to access a site by walking (the only safe way really with Covid afoot, unless you have your own vehicle). |
. I think you were the spring butt in class. Always wanted to argue with the teacher just to hear your voice. DCHealth set up the inoculation points to counter disparate impacts based on race with access. Ward 3 got all of the shots because they by and large wanted the inoculations. Ward 8 did not. But to say that Ward 8 either does not have computers or cell phones to sign up or is not smart enough to use them is simply not accurate. And that is what the data backs up. |
Wow, so even with "black" only vaccine distribution policies, Ward 8 is not getting vaccinated. Who said earlier that it might require an education campaign. Seems like it. The "black only" policy started after day one when Ward 8 had only had 94 registrations. Now their registration rate has apparently slowed down...probably because those who wanted to be inoculated had no difficulty in Ward 8 on the first day. All of this time talking digital divide and gaps in access and it turned out, they just don't want the shot. |
You disgust me. Go back into your hole, racist grandpa. |
| Please tell me this is real. It says so much about the DC elite! |
Except that the spots that are reserved for targeted Zip codes go just as fast as the citywide ones. So how does that fit your theory that Black people don't want the vaccine? |
|
They are going to Ward 4. Just as wealthy and entitled as Ward 3...but predominately black. And the Mayor's Ward |
Is Ward 4 in the priority zips? They should drop it and focus on 5, 7 and 8 until they come up. |
|
Thank you for connecting dots on Bowser and Ward 4 - I did not know.
And folks, Covid is a serious risk for ALL people with comorbidities - not just POC who live in certain DC zip codes as some on DCUM seem to believe. The low number of vaccine shots in Ward 7 and 8 match up with the low number of parents wanting their children back in school - now that it has been offered. Choices have been offered and rejected. Sometimes equity is available only to those who CHOOSE it. |
Oh, stop. The whole point of this thread is that Ward 3 residents are super aggressive about getting the vaccine. Thank god racist simpletons like you aren't in charge of making health policy decisions. |
"super agressive"--wow, that is some flavored language there! |
Interesting "hot take" there. How are you defining super aggressive? I guess if you mean that they are interested in getting their COVID shots. What is interesting about this thread is that nobody has any answers for why Ward 3 does not have DCHealth inoculation points. How does that facilitate any part of a coherent COVID vaccination strategy? |
