When he says "I was there, this is what I saw", how are people assuming he wasn't in the riot vs just the rally? I mean if you were just at the rally, how would you see "who started this" as he keeps mentioning, he says he was there and he saw who started it. It meaning the storming I assume? Does he mean to say he didn't go in but just watched from in front of the building?
Look either way anyone who can't even admit that it was exactly who we know it was in the building is just loony. Can we stop giving these people the air in the room? You can't tell me the average republican is that out there now. This constant conspiracy conviction is being given a larger audience than it deserves |
But, the politics comes into play with the riots and the actions towards the rioters. You don't think not charging people is political? Capitol invaders should be prosecuted asap. But, the others were mostly let go. How would you feel if it were your business that was burned? Police had bricks and worse thrown at them last summer. Many were injured. And, there were complaints when they brought out the National Guard to help protect. That is one reason I guess that Bower did not want National Guard last week--and their presence might have prevented the horror at the Capitol. That was a political decision not to have National Guard called in. These are facts that can be discussed with kids. Taking a position on it, however, is inappropriate for a teacher. When I was teaching, I always did a secret ballot for presidential elections in my classes. I never, never, never shared my vote with the kids. |
+1 The protest was based on a provable lie. A Big Lie, if you will. If he was there, he was claiming, in spite of all the evidence and the statements of every state election official, that the election was stolen. Which is just not true. It is literally not a matter for real debate. So you have to question his judgment, at a minimum. |
Are you the same person who didn't think there was violence in the protests last summer? Do you know what is a Big Lie? "All cops are bad." ACAB. That was everywhere in those protests. Do I believe Biden won? Yes. Do I think there were many irregularities in the election? Absolutely. Some people looked at things differently. |
No, she isn’t that person. I am. I apologize for not immediately recalling that. There was terrible violence at some of those protests. I condemn those actions and disassociate myself from people who resort to such destructive and counter productive tactics. But I can’t disassociate myself from the intent of the peaceful demonstrators who want to perpetuate the message that “Black Lives Matter.” |
Well, I hope you can understand that all Trump supporters did not storm the Capitol or support that. And, a teacher should not be fired for attending a protest. But, again, I don't approve of teachers openly sharing their political views. There are many teachers in FCPS that have troubling twitter pages that should be private. The trouble is that there was not enough condemnation of the riots last summer. And, people were not charged because others felt BLM protests were justified. Violence is never justified. |
I am a teacher and voted for Trump to protect my parents and family small business from Biden’s tax plan. I don’t like Trump, but Biden’s plan harms my family. So I’m a traitor? My students don’t need to know my political views nor do their parents. |
Wow. Suggest you enlarge your vocabulary a bit Start with "traitor" and "fact." |
What did you expect? We voted a socialist with communist tendencies. Nobody noticed his Chinese handler wouldn’t go farther than 3 steps away yesterday. It’s no surprise big media is and has been instilling in our minds the idea of China being number 1 in 7 years. |
If you think your ability to not pay a higher marginal income tax rate matters more than the rights of marginalized people, reform, climate, healthcare, etc, you just suck. And no, nobody has to respect the fact you put money over people. |
If you think the government can support everyone simply by raising taxes, you are extremely naive. The best help for people? JOBS. Everything Biden has done so far will cut jobs. |
more--and I say this as someone who spent time teaching underserved kids. Children should never go hungry. Children should never go homeless. But, I have also seen what pouring money into federal programs does. Do you know what happens? Bureaucrats peel off money at every level. Very little gets to the bottom. Of course, there should be food programs, housing programs, etc. But, we already have those. Jobs are the key. Taxes, not so much. Some seem to think that raising taxes on the rich will solve the problem--until you realize that you may be among the rich. JUst look at the waste in FCPS. Look at the number of administrators and office people. Many of them are there to "manage" programs--not help kids. |
Actually fixing the pandemic is the best way to grow jobs. Those of us who used to be Republicans know that. Only Trumpers cannot admit it. And only Trumpers cannot admit that the "riot" was a failed coup. |
What do you think he is doing to fix the pandemic? Masks? Studying safe opening of schools? Those things have already been done. Some states are moving right along with vaccinations. We are already doing one million per day. But, who does he choose to be asst sec in charge of Health? Someone who sent COVID patients into long-term care--while, pulling her own mother out of long term care. Check out Pennsylvania's stats--among the worst. |
I know, right? Our government cannot do anything to fight a pandemic. The government cannot do anything at all, so we should just dissolve it and go back to a Confederacy of States. Yeah no, sorry. That's not going to happen. |
