Uh, he's been placed on leave, so apparently public school isn't quite the "anything goes" circus you imagine. If he was, in fact, in the Capitol Building or otherwise participated in the storming of it, he committed a crime in the course of attempting sedition, and he should be fired.

“Prince William County Public Schools recognizes that employees have a right to engage in political activity on their personal time,” reads the statement. “However, employees may not engage in political activities during worktime, on school property, or using school resources, and employees who engage in criminal activity which calls into question their fitness as a role model for students may no longer qualify for employment with PWCS.”

Um, please let us know the last time we heard of a Liberal public school teacher getting fired for similar activity on school time. Oh wait, that just doesn’t happen.

Wait! What??!! You mean there are liberal teachers who have gone to the capitol of the United States and held senators and representatives hostage??? When did this happen? Please link to it. I can’t believe I missed it!

Thanks!

What level (E/M/H) do you teach and which jurisdiction? I hope that is universal!

I am pretty sure it is. I suppose I broke “ protocol,” though, after the attack on the capitol. I just don’t know how to see that attempted insurrection as anything other than idiotic, illegal, dangerous, and anti-democratic.

True. These past 4 years have been rough. I work for a local jurisdiction and we have similar rules regarding no outward political affiliation materials allowed at work, whether it be a bumper sticker or a coffee mug.

when is the last time liberals stormed the capital to overturn an election?

2010-11 or so with Scott Walker comes to mind.

Okay, you let me know the last time that a liberal public school teacher discussed his or her involvement in a violent attack on a federal building -- or any violent crime, really -- in front of his or her class.

You don't keep up much with your fellow travelers do you?

I've taught middle & high school in Montgomery County for the past 20 years.

In every school I've ever worked in, admin has always been infallible in their communication to staff (it couldn't be more clear, I might add) to NOT engage in any political discussion whatsoever with students, unless our course of study was AP Government.

Political discussion (and particularly personal political discussion) has always been unquestionably off limits for any other courses & discussions.

I cannot imagine that Prince William County differs in policy/practice/procedure much to MoCo, which makes me wonder what this guy was possibly thinking? 🤯

Ooooh, that was an especially violent protest, I can see the logical comparison you lept to here.

Do you have any idea how aggregates work?

Or maybe apples & oranges?

Wait what? MoCo certainly doesn't follow this. We have had plenty of teachers happy to talk about their attendance at BLM protests and their joy in voting for Biden. There was one, a few years ago, who would only refer to Trump as the Orange Cheeto -- in class!

Did you address this with the teacher? Admin?

I am unaware of a situation when a liberal teacher has illegally entered and stayed in Federal property and then admitted in class. Are you saying that you know of situations where that happened and they didn't get placed on leave?

Key words bolded. Liberals are just too cowardly to admit it.

It’s astonishing how these people can claim there is no bias. BLM-supporting teachers are lauded and given kudos. Trump supporting teachers are told to shut up and stay “neutral.”

This isn’t true. I do not support talking about personal political beliefs in class and I definitely do not support anything that happened at the Capitol but I’ve been hearing teachers bash Trump in school in front of students for 4 years including name calling. That’s unprofessional. No one has told them to stop at my school. I don’t support the man but I believe students should not know who we support. Teachers should stay neutral and stick to fact.

I mean, c’mon. It’s Donald Trump. The man is a known con artist and grifter with mafia ties whose blatant corruption was difficult to ignore. I imagine if I taught government or civics, that would be a tough topic to avoid.

You sound like all of the teachers in my school. I think it’s unprofessional to speak that way in front of your students. I think it’s fine to talk that way with your friends and family. Facts about corruption are fine. Orange buffoon comments are what I’m talking about.

Liberals stormed a portion of Portland and kicked out the duly elected civilian government. The media loved them.

Hopefully you will go back in your hole for the next 4 years and beyond (god willing).

ES, we were reminded before the election too.

Because Trump is a horrible person who belongs in jail along with many of his supporters. You all are criminals and traitors. And hypocrites.
