Nicest non-flashy/showy large-ish SUV?

It’s a pain in tight parking lots and parallel spots.

We have one and they have been saying that they are discontinuing it for five years but they don't.

If you are responding to the title of the thread, Land Cruiser is the top of the heap.

I want a Suburban and live in DC but all the moms in suburban MD will think I’m a country yokel. What do you think I should do?

I have one and it is a pain to park in DC garages. Now I drive our sedan when going to DC.

Suburban is the same but cheaper.

Our navigator says we enjoy a comfortable ride while shuttling the kids and friends to activities, club sports and mini road trips. If not for an suv, the odyssey is very nice too!

I recall the rich bitch I worked with saying she is forced to buy a Suburban. With front bench option only nine passenger SUV made.

She has four kids, a husband, nanny and her parents. Sometimes when she goes to beach house she must take her nanny and often her parents so they can babysit as poor nanny can’t work 24/7 when they go out without kids. Ultimate humble brag move.

Not really, she has a large family that won’t fit in a sedan. Suv seating is the same as a minivan. A suburban is reasonable. Would you rather her family drive in 2 smaller suvs, or a sprinter or envy or a commuter van? Don’t be so nasty and envious, it’s not a good look.

Before the car companies started chasing bigger profits and killing the planet we all managed just fine with cars.

But all of the marketing has convinced everyone they need SUVs - don't want to be showy - show some common sense and get a mid size car.

Before they started making clothes out of cultivated woven fibers, we were all just fine wearing animal skin and straw. Human agriculture is killing the planet! All that marketing convinced people that they need soft britches - toughen up and deal with the chafing.

When trying to be clever it really helps to actually be clever.

There is nothing wrong with progress and human agriculture is not what is killing the planet though the excess quantities of meat we now consume in the west are certainly exacerbating things.

There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of advances in transportation including using cars. But SUVs are for most people silly extravagances that unnecessarily waste gas and make everyone less safe all so they don't have to bend over strapping their kid in a car seat or have their kid sit next to each other or to signal their wealth or bro-ness to everyone else on the road.

Then don’t buy (or lease) one

Any Larger D3 SUV will work. They know big trucks and SUVs better than anyone. Tahoe or a Jeep GC

I think discontinuing the landcruiser would be a marketing fail. Toyota should just update it and make it a V6 and freshen up the interior. Keep the name and have the new version be faithful to the original but to today’s standards.

Making it a V6 would be a complete fail. The reason why it sells is because it is true to what it is, not a dressed up V6

A properly tuned V6 could have more torque and horsepower than a V8.
