What is your take on the Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt divorce saga? What happened on the plane?

Agree. I don’t get it.

What’s not to get? She’s broken up numerous marriages, has no friends, touts herself as a massive humanitarian while attending red carpets and living in mansions in France, she’s crazy....

I mean yes but why do people like Brad then? He’s done all of the same things she has. He cheated on jennifer Aniston, he slept with Robin givens when she was married to Mike Tyson, and dated multiple teenagers. Only difference is Brad Pitt is the producer on a lot of amazing movies like Moonlight.

+1

Some women don't like to see other women do "too" well.

Every major philanthropist (yes even in the humanitarian space) goes to fancy red carpet, $10k per plate dinners...it's how they have the money to be massive philanthropists! Celebs trade some of this disposable wealth for their ability to bring media attention but it's the same thing.

How do we know she "has no friends"? That's what PP means about angeliny haters being an odd lot, they seem too invested and claim to know things that would never be public knowledge anyway

Because she said that herself: https://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity-news/angelina-jolie-i-don-t-really-have-girlfriends-149561

It’s a good thing the Brangeloonies don’t know about DCUM because they would rip all of you a new one.

How big of a cocktail did Jen Aniston have when she heard about this split? I bet it was a fricking monster size margarita. Cheers.

He and Angie likely had been slowly drifting apart during that time for reasons that probably included the alcohol issues but were probably very complex and specific to them as they are to all couples with a long and intense relationship, particularly with kids involved.

I think she kept her kids stable in the immediate aftermath and I think he straightened his life out to have a relationship with his kids. Both of them have a responsibility for how publicly and acrimoniously it played out in the media that their kids then had to bear witness to.

I think they are both actors who care a lot about their image and reputation and both have used the divorce to try to spin the media towards their own narrative and the truth almost certainly lies somewhere in the middle.

Agree. And as a woman and mom married to a man with a drinking problem the scenario you’ve laid our rings true. Mind you I’m not a celebrity or flying on private planes but the dynamics and how it explodes is similar to my situation. By the way, excruciating.

And as in my case, my DH very jovial, “nice guy” in public but a really callous and unpredictable person when drunk. So when I ended our marriage people sympathized with him, not knowing how much my kids and I endured in private.

I’m not an Angelina Jolie fan, but sympathize with this aspect of her life.

I think Brad had substance issues, but not so bad that he couldn't mostly keep a lid of them. Once this happened, he went cold turkey to get his kids back; I admire that, especially since he probably had enablers around him telling him (not totally unreasonably) that he wasn't an addict and just had to cut back some.

I think Brad is fundamentally a good guy as evidenced by his many friends in Hollywood and his relatively clean rep. Even this incident mostly got ignored other than in the immediate aftermath.

I don't think Angelina is as damaged as some in this thread. I think she's a bit BPD, but not a fundamentally bad person. I do think she was done with Brad and his increasing quest for normalcy and used this incident to get the clean split she wanted (remember she already had the house ready to go, not exactly the sign of a spontaneous marriage rupture).

He didn’t go “cold turkey”. He got sober and had a sobriety coach, among other $$$$ resources. Also, “keeping a lid on it” is another term for denial. Many if not most alcoholics keep a “lid on it” until one day they can’t.

I personally find it suspicious that Brad only appears to spend time with his biological kids. I noticed that this year around Christmas there were all these breathless articles about how he was seeing some of his kids unsupervised this Christmas...and the kids he was seeing were his three biological kids. Seems pretty messed up that Zaharia also wouldn’t be included considering he has been in her life since he was a baby. So either the kids are declining to see him when they get old enough to have more of a say or he is treating them differently which is unacceptable since he adopted them, gave them his last name, and pretended to be a real father to them for his image for years.

Also find it weird that hi

She doesn’t look like Jolie to me but she does look like his daughter. Can’t remember which is which but either Shiloh or Vivienne.

While I’m sure he gives them a lot, I wouldn’t say they’re the poor hicks you are making them out to be. His dad owned a business and his mother was a guidance counselor.
