My roommate and her boyfriend met working on the Marc Elrich campaign. He is a Democratic Socialists of America member and got her to join, and she grew up Christian Conservative.

A bunch of people in my yoga class turned out to be Socialists.

Some other friends in my building were holding DSA meetings and joined them as well, before all this happened.

Now these same people are all ranting on Facebook about how the pandemic is all about income inequality.

Did I just end up in a weird circle or is everyone under 30 in DC, Silver Spring, Takoma Park and Bethesda enamored with AOC?

Look, if they're annoying you, find another group of friends. There are people who aren't socialists who live in this area. But just as I say to all the people complaining about phony social climbers in DC, there are good people and neighborhoods in this area but you have to go look for them.

Pp again. I should add that I actually am a socialist so I'm not complaining about socialists. But I am complaining just a little bit about OP who is frustrated at being surrounded by socialists but doesn't seem to understand that she has had a role in picking her friends. $500,000 for a hospital bill after a heart attack, $150,000 for a bachelor's degree, and a minimum wage that won't get you an apartment in even one single state - "This is fine."

Unrestricted capitalism would be the fire department paying someone to set your house on fire so they can charge you a fee to put it out.
