NP here. Hmmm I keep thinking about trying this show. I haven't watched much British stuff, maybe this will open up a genre for me lol

You'll love Call the Midwife. I swear every episode is like watching people just care and love each other. And the fashion is amazing, as well as all the social stories going on around the main characters. It's one of the best shows on TV.

The West Wing
MASH - It may not be focused on manners, but there's a large emphasis on human decency and heart.

Yes to both, but especially to WW. I am a WW super fan, so maybe i am not objective. It truly is about being good, doing well, and each person aspiring to be the best person we can be. Also so smart and funny.

+1 West Wing is good people. Some life problems, but they are handled with humanity and humility.

Agree with suggestions of call the midwife and queer eye. We also love Fresh Off the Boat. It's lighthearted, and the characters are always learning lessons about becoming better people. It also cracks us up.

Yes! I always come away from it feeling more empathetic and compassionate.

High Maintenance on HBO has so much humanity. Not a wholesome show and not for the TV-PG crowd, but it's exceedingly kind and feel-good.

Agree with Friday Night Lights. There is a lot of humanity in that show.
I would not describe the characters on FNL as mannerly and kind. Loved the series, but don't think it fits in with what OP is looking for.

FNL fits perfectly. Not every scene, character, story line is kind, but overall the series leaves with a feeling better.

Agree

Love all of these.

Have you found a way to watch Northern Exposure? I'd read that it doesn't get picked up by streaming sites because the royalties they'd have to pay for the songs is cost prohibitive.

I agree completely. It's because the producers aren't trying to drum up tension and drama between the bakers. It makes for good family entertainment.

Seriously - I would love to watch this show again. One episode from this show always sticks in my mind for a pure poetical moment of magic. Chris is trying to set a record or achieve something - can't remember exactly - but it involved a huge catapult.

At the end, they catapulted a piano - the whole town watches as it flies into the air and explodes. It completely summarized a lot of plot points and the show closes with Chris doing his radio show and saying..."It turns out that the thing you fling isn't important, it's the fling itself."

You have to watch...

I think The Good Place is the kindest TV show I've ever seen. Even with the demons.

The basic premise, of flawed, sucky people trying to be better just BECAUSE, is amazing. And it's funny as shit.

Also, Fraser -- because sure, they were goofy and snarky, but at the end of the day, everyone really cared about each other.

Bluebloods. That is why is has the highest ratings on TV. Older people love the mannerly and ordered way the Reagan family lives.
