Sure it's more complicated but the conservative estimate of only 50% of the population getting infected should take care of overaccounting for any overlap. |
The article people teetering on the brink of insanity did not need. My god. |
Kinda true though. And I’m trying to nail down exactly how airborne this is? Can it linger in air for hours? If you walk behind someone on a windy day, will you inhale it even 6 ft away?? |
Scary but not at all unrealistic. Stay at home people. |
It can linger at least 45 minutes on a moving bus according to the warnings out of Wuhan. |
I loved how she wore a mask but they hugged. Do people do that? And who the F doesn’t wash their hands after #2???? |
Closed quarters I assume are bad, like a bus or grocery store line. But outside, I hope it dispersed quickly? Like if I inhale 1 virus is that it? |
I imagine some people don't but I wish the author had made up some other hygiene fail because that one is just not relatable. |
I'm not sure, but I keep thinking of this quote from a doctor in Italy before the whole country was on lockdown: “'There are too many people walking around,' Dr. Balanzoni protested." And now, well, you know. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/08/world/europe/italy-coronavirus-quarantine.html |
wow. Fascinating article. Also, 'burst in starburst waves like the glowing algae in a midnight lagoon' was truly poetic |
| If simply stepping outdoors infected you, the infection and death rate would have been even higher. |
Well obviously it's not "simply stepping outdoors" that infects you. It's not even being in a crowded area that infects you. Your chances of being infected simply increase the more people you are around. Could you get infected by being within six feet, outdoors, of the cough of somebody who was infected? Maybe. |
A LOT, as I've witnessed over and over again in public bathrooms. |
That made me shiver. At least I hoe that's what made me shiver. |
