I would just use the initial personally. Petra is difficult name Do you even like it?

Do you mean to call her P? That would be odd.

NP. It's not odd if you know how the name should be said in German. Most people who have traveled will automatically say the name "Pee-tra" because that's how it's said in German.

I’m sure that poster is suggesting to use the P in another name entirely.

Rose because Petra is the rose red city half as old as time?

Petra
John William Burgon

It seems no work of Man's creative hand,
by labour wrought as wavering fancy planned;
But from the rock as if by magic grown,
eternal, silent, beautiful, alone!
Not virgin-white like that old Doric shrine,
where erst Athena held her rites divine;
Not saintly-grey, like many a minster fane,
that crowns the hill and consecrates the plain;
But rose-red as if the blush of dawn,
that first beheld them were not yet withdrawn;
The hues of youth upon a brow of woe,
which Man deemed old two thousand years ago,
Match me such marvel save in Eastern clime,
a rose-red city half as old as time.

It’s gonna be an I, so maybe I should call her personal investigator 🙃

My daughter’s name is Petra Idalis. I named her after myself, I was named after my mother. 😂 we have 3 petras in our family.

Why do you need a nickname? I have a three syllable name and have never had a nickname. Never an issue.

Have a close friend with this name. Her nickname was always Pate. It’s an awesome name, don’t listen to the haters. She is funny, gorgeous, and the name was unique yet classic, set her apart in a good way.

I, also, have a wonderful friend called Petra. No nickname. No one has problems saying her name.

But Rocky and Rose are both great nicknames!

Peach is super cute.

Peach is what we call vaginas in my hometown.

My daughter’s best friend is a Petra. I love the name. It’s so pretty. You don’t need a nickname.

I think Petya is the traditional nickname for Petra in Russian. Petra isn't really a name that lends itself to nicknames easily. If you don't like the name much, I'd use it as the middle name.

Hi, my name is Petra. It is very odd for me that you (even before the girl is born) are thinking about nicknames. I don’t get it. The name Petra means ‘rock, stone’ and is very strong by itself so you either like it or not, but please don’t give your doughter the name Petra if you don’t like the name. ‘Rose, Patty I don’t know what....’ What? Please?! Either you give her the name Petra or you don’t. It’s that simple.

I was always called Petra, sometimes Petrica (by my grandmother), Petrca (sometimes by my friends) and sometimes Pera (by my uncle) and this is it.

The whole nickname thing escapes me. Why don’t you just name the kid what you want to call them in the first place?

I'm guessing it's pate like a bald head and either way it's awful.

Petra doesn't need a nickname.
