Italy in May. We decided to cancel. Not afraid of getting fatally ill but anxious about general lockdowns, quarantines, and generally chaotic travel conditions. Luckily, everything was still refundable. |
Love him! Be safe pp! |
OMG yes. Literally every place seems appealing right now from Nashville to Dubai to Morocco. I haven't booked anything simply bc I think this is the year where last minute travel will be a better deal as people cancel and then prices go down to fill up flights/rooms. I have however started to put vacation time on my calendar at work, so that if I want to pick up and go someplace in 10 days, I'm not then canceling a bunch of already scheduled commitments. As for whether I'd go -- Nashville (or any place domestic) sure. Dubai/Morocco -- want to see how things develop (though if things remain kind of how they are now - sure) simply because I wouldn't want to chance needing healthcare in an non english speaking place where I don't speak Arabic; and while Dubai is fairly advanced, I don't think Morocco is. |
Dubai is a city, Morocco is a country. Morocco is amazing, and they are very interested in becoming "advanced." Not speaking Arabic will not be a problem. Everyone in any type of tourist industry will speak English (and French, and Spanish, and Arabic, and Berber...and possibly other languages as well.) |
^Now you’re just giving me reasons to go. Yes I get that Dubai is a city and Morocco isn’t. I don’t need to be lectured on the Arab world given that I’m Arab. But I do think that if I went to Morocco, I’d go for a while and travel around - big cities, small cities etc. Infrastructure varies in big vs small places — as does English speaker availability. Right now Dubai would make more sense to me because it’s very much designed for tourism, more English speaking, better infrastructure including medical simply bc UAE (see I know what country it’s in) is just a wealthier country. |
Only places I wouldn’t want to go now in the US would be crowded places with tons of kids — so I guess Disney and theme parks like Hershey. I realize this disproportionately isn’t affecting kids much but IDK kids have a way of coughing with mouths wide open and touching everything. |
Well, you're missing out. |
I was in Disney a couple weeks ago and saw tons of uncouth adults coughing with mouths wide open... |
India in April. I’m not sure. My dad lives there and is sick. |
Huh? So if PP doesn't go to Morocco today, she can't go in 6 mos or 18 mos? Is Morocco going somewhere? Guess logic isn't your strong suit. |
I live in CA. Due to fly to DC at the end of March. I’m worried about SFO in particular and think I’ll end up canceling but will wait and see. My older DD’s spring break is the following week. I’d hoped to take her somewhere but now I’m not making plans. Last year we did San Diego which was fun, and we can plan that pretty last minute if needed. |
London in July. Who knows. Haven’t booked anything yet — nor would I normally book this early so plenty of time to wait and see. |
We are a family of 4 with two kids under 10. We have 2 trips coming up in March: a ski trip in CO, and Disney in Orlando. We live in a major city in the Northeast and yes, we plan on going as of now because:
- we have as much of a chance of contracting the virus on an airplane or on vacation as we do when commuting, at work/school/the library/grocery store etc. etc. in our city; - even if we were to get sick, we do not have compromised immune systems. If we can overcome the flu (and we all have, at least once the past 3 winters!), we should be able to get over this too. |
We have plans to go to the UK in mid-march with two kids. Watching and waiting now. There does seem to be a lot of uncertainly regarding whether large attractions, etc. might shut down, etc. Since it is a "fun trip" I'm not sure how fun it will be in the current climate and would be likely to reschedule if the airlines get flexible. Most our other items can be canceled close to departure.

Ski trip in 10 days. Italy trip this summer.
Watching both and will decide right before. Everything is non-refundable, so not much to do except decide right before. |
