When is your next planned travel & are you planning to go?

I just listened to The Daily podcast about coronavirus (saw it mentioned in one of the many threads in the Health forum), and now I have to say my bigger worry would be traveling in the fall which could be a bigger issue like it was the 1918 influenza (small spring outbreak, disappears for the summer with warm temps, then hits hard in the fall during cold and flu season). I feel good about my April trip. It's domestic, driving not flying. But I won't be booking anything beyond that right now.

Have you specifically asked about this? Interesting that they say it'll still be fine to go 5 weeks from now; how could they possibly know that? I'd understand if you were talking about this weekend or something. In any event, hope your drs. are right because I really want to get more own spring break trip because I feel like after this, it's going to be a no travel (or travel only in driveable distance) kind of year or no travel until the end of the year kind of year which stinks.

Yes I specifically asked about it. They all felt that it's not a particularly serious illness and the chances of contracting it are very small, and that as risks go, flu is much more serious. And for people in good health, not immunocompromised in any way, this isn't something to panic about. They had a lot to say about the media coverage of this, however!

Uk next week, going. I hope. Southern Italy early May, going. I hope.

I'm less concerned about actually contracting the disease and more concerned about getting stuck. I'm also selfishly concerned that things will be closed and therefore not as fun. But, for now, I'm only going to cancel if things start to look dire. The only countries I would absolutely not visit right now are China and South Korea.

Just came back from Belize and I'm glad we got to go. We considered Florida in the summer but we decided to stay local until this blows over. Will use the time to see if we can get low cost cruise, airfare or hotels for something next year (with added trip insurance).

Vienna-Budapest end of March
Paris, mid-May
Southern Spain October

We are still planning to go right now. The MD’s I work with have encouraged me to still go but just bring wet wipes, hand sanitizer and just use good hygiene. One MD also said to just keep an eye on it but how it is the day or before but the risk is so low-be more concerned about the flu.

We're flying to California/Nevada in a week. I'm a little anxious about traveling, but not so anxious that I'm going to cancel a much-needed vacation. I told my 12 year old son last night that we need to use anti-bacterial hand wash and be careful about touching our faces on the plane. He told me that he plans to lick the arm rest of his seat while we're flying. If he gets the virus he can stay in California after that comment.

Super helpful - thanks! Glad they are viewing it as something that isn't a huge risk right now -- sometimes with the media coverage, you just don't know. But then you step back and think -- 80k people in a world population of 7.8 billion -- what am I worrying about??

I teach 6th grade and this is very typical middle school humor. My students are already wondering if school will shut down!

Am I the only one who wants to just jump on a plane and travel right now?? It's like as soon as people started saying -- don't travel unnecessarily/maybe put it off -- my mind just went to all the trips I MUST TAKE apparently RIGHT NOW.
