How many kids do most of your friends/circle have? How many do you have?

We have two, I would say that 70% of our friends also have two, 15% have three, 10% have one and 5% have more than three.

There are a lot of wealthy Catholics in my neighborhood, though, and four is VERY common with those families. Like probably over half have four kids. IDK what it is.

We are in Bethesda, and there is an even split between 2 kids and 3 kids in our circle. I know several families that have 4 kids, but almost none with 1 kid.

We have 4.

We know several families with 4, a smattering with 5.

Most families we know have 3 kids. A small minority only have 2.

We don’t know any families who stopped at 1.

We're both 38 and have one 3.5 year old, no plans for more (all we wanted was one good one, and we got her!)

Most kids in DDs preschool have one sibling, and most of our friends just had their second. I don't know of any three-kid families. I have one friend who had three (all under 4), but her #1 priority was a large family.

And like cars, kid count has become for many people a way to signal your wealth/status.

I have one by choice, born in our mid-30s. I almost exclusively hang out with childless people TBH, but we have a few friends with 1 or 2.

Most have 2. We have 2. I can see the appeal of larger families, but living in the city with two working parents, this seems like the reasonable number.

I'm 36 and pregnant with #3. Most of our friends/neighbors have 3. Only 1 family I know has 4 and people definitely talk about them as the couple with 4 kids. Some have 1, many 2. I'd say the split is:

1 child: 15%
2 children: 30%
3 children: 50%
4 kids/no kids: 5%

Your crowd is too young to have 3 kid families. It's coming.

They're 38! How many of their friends do you think are going to have another kids after that age?

38 isn't too young to have 3, but it is too young to say that those who have 2 are totally out and won't end up with 3.

Where are all of these 4 kid families? We're moving to the area and expecting our 4th, and would like to find a neighborhood where we won't be the 'weirdos with all the kids'...most of the DC area people we know are 3 kids or less.

We have one kid and oddly most of our friends only have one as well.

I'm in Potomac and know 3 families with 4 kids. The majority of families have 2.
