How many kids do most of your friends/circle have? How many do you have?

Most have 3 and we have 3.

We are just barely in NOVA now (think Gainesville area) and have five. Most friends have three. It’s much more common to see larger families “out here.”

The vast majority have two. We are the only ones in the circle with one (and we're done). One family just had their 3rd but no one else is talking about a third.

Fairly evenly split between either 2 or 3 for my friends, and there are a few outliers with 1, 4, or 5. We tried for 2, ended up with 4 (single + triplets).

Exactly this. We are having a 4th. I SAH and DH is an equity partner. One parent at home and ability to outsource most chores makes it doable and even fun.

No way you are in the DC area.

Not the PP, but there are a lot of 4 (even 5) child families in Alexandria.

Our Alexandria preschool is full of 3, some 4 child families, but not 5 that I know of.

NP here. I live in Rockville and I’m a SAHM - my church based half day preschool is the same way! I have 3 kids, but there are plenty of families larger than ours. I have a friend with kids in daycare and I’m the only person she knows with more that 2 kids. It all depends on what your social circles are like.

Kid number is like a car. As soon as I got a Honda Pilot I felt like every single mom I knew had one. As soon as I had a third I started noticing every family that has 3. You just notice family numbers that match your own even if thats no the "leader".

We have three and most of our friends have 2-3, pretty normal.

I have 4, my friends mostly have 1 to 3. One has 5. The ones with an only child have fertility issues. I live in MoCo.

Most have 3, a few have 2 or 4. My DD has been the sole only child in her class for the past 3 years. I’m sure people think we’re infertile or hurting for money, but they don’t know that we’re happy with our awesome kid, never planned for more, and even if we did, have a tricky caregiving situation for older relatives and DH’s evolving neurological issues that we keep secret for career reasons.

Almost everyone in my circle has either zero or two kids. We are in our late 30s with two toddlers, and will not be having any more. DC area. My husband would love a third but I'm not on board.

In Bethesda, most people have 2, but since my oldest started kindergarten I noticed a lot more have 3. My work colleagues almost all have 2. I have 2 with one on the way. And we likely won't have more than that!

You’re right. We just moved a few months ago. But I’m guessing you don’t spend much time in N. Arlington. There are a ton of 3+ kid families.
