After seeing some parents posts, now I can see where this sentiment comes from !!! Parents hate other people for simply being working hard !

I'm sorry your child was racially bullied and I hope the school took appropriate action, but your insistence on identifying the bullies as "local kids" is dangerously close to suggesting that all kids in certain areas and from certain groups share a common trait. Just as I don't believe every child/family at Pyle/Whitman is a white supremacist despite pervasive racialized bullying at those schools, how about you give some benefit of the doubt to "local kids" and families at a school your family CHOSE to attend?

"some" -- and can you read ?

By the way DC's best friend is a local kid!

Some of the magnet kids are local kids. Some of the local kids are magnet kids.

it does not matter they are magnets or not.

local means "no need to spend over 2 hours a day" to commute.

Great anecdote but what does this prove?

Parenting !!!

On DCUM, "parenting" means "the stuff I do, that you should do too, but you don't do it, because you're a loser."

there is a common decency --- that all parents should to teach their kids --- to respect others

The PP's point was this is an isolated incident at best but more likely fiction. It's just some anecdote that an anonymous poster likely made up to justify their views.

We're closer to Einstein but our kids are bussed to a W. We're okay with that.

My kid's magnet school is closer than our assigned home school. Is my kid a "local kid" or a "magnet kid"?

Many out of boundary kids who attend Blair SMCS live closer to the school than we do and we're in boundary.

1. Does your kid goes to that magnet school?
2. If so then he is magnet kid not local because he is out of boundary.
3. Magnet kids are local ONLY if they are selected from the local catchment.

This is because the boundary of Blair are kind of cute. The school has quite extreme location.

Because while Blair moved locations, its boundaries, which were based on the old location, never changed. This is a prime example of a boundary that needs to be analyzed and perhaps adjusted. Way to back up the BOE’s argument.

Well, was his name Ching Chong?? Asians often have difficulty saying English words and names and especially saying the letter “r”. Maybe the magnet school students couldn’t pronounce his name. You shouldn’t assume racism. I agree however that a lot of Asians have adopted the racist views of American whites. Remember who built this country, and it certainly wasn’t Asians so please respect that. I don’t mean this in a harsh way but it will help you in what looks to be a long road regarding the boundary analysis. I was reading an article about that Asian education website posted by the white mom, they actually say on there, “We love the white man’s values and ideals.” Notice they didn’t say AMERICAN ideals. Yet their intention is to remove students of ALL races from being selected over them for any special programs. See here: http://asianamericanforeducation.org/en/pr_20191212/

Notably and unfortunately, several of the members have hosted Trump fundraisers. I’m happy that people are finding out about this organization as it is divisive and rooted in the premise of Asian superiority and that all races are inferior.

Chinese labor participated in bulding transcontinental railroad in 1860s

Umm I hope that you don’t believe that wining a math competition is building America. Plenty of white kids and kids of other races have won competitions as well. You did not help build this country and you have never fought for the rights of any oppressed people in this country. Yet you insist you deserve access to the very best programs, school districts and universities. It’s really short sighted and self centered.

PP The importance of STEM in building modern America is just as important as the labors building railroad.

Sure kids of white and black and all other races have won all kinds competitions.

That is why we should promote fair competitions regardless races -- they are all Americans !
