My guess is Chinese and a member of this very right wing anti-white and anti other minority groups organization - Asian American for Education Coalition - http://asianamericanforeducation.org/en/home/. Note how they repeatedly refer to their children as “hard working” as though white children cannot be hardworking or like other minority children cannot be hardworking. White families also value education - we just want our children to be well rounded individuals involved in other activities. Really disheartening.

Why do you object other people say their kids work hard? Do you have a job? Are you hardly working everyday?

The implication is that the other white, black and brown children are not working hard. It seems odd to me that an immigrant population would insult the intelligence and work ethic of the citizens of the country they now live in and a country that was largely built by those citizens and their ancestors, and to speak honestly, slaves. And this is as a white parent who grew up in a fairly diverse area and school. On the site is a letter in which the organization is attacking MCPS for not letting more Asians in CES and magnet school programs as well.

Not really. I mean, I wish that immigrants didn't adopt, as part of the immigrants' assimilation into US culture, the US racist attitudes towards people whose ancestors were forcibly brought to the US through the trans-Atlantic human trafficking trade. But I'm not surprised.

Telling these anecdotes may help justify racism for some people but the reality is it isn't representative in my experience. Seriously, if you want to make this kind of assertion, try using facts; otherwise, it's clear you're just trying to fan the flames of hate and stoke animosity between groups. This is precisely the kind of thing Russian trolls are accused of doing.

At the high school level the kids are surrounded in their classes by kids at their same level. If your college bound kid takes college prep classes, the other kids will also be college bound.

That was my experience and is my child’s as well. It doesn’t matter if some kids are performing at a lower level. They won’t be in your child’s classes (other than perhaps PE etc).

DC was picked on by some local kids at a magnet school. They called him "Ching Chong".

After seeing some parents posts, now I can see where this sentiment comes from !!! Parents hate other people for simply being working hard !

What anecdotes? If there are Asian-Americans who claim that Asian-American immigrants, as a group, are immune to racist beliefs about others, I haven't met any. And it would be an absurd claim. No group is immune.

Anecdotes about one group being biased about another being held up as representative of that group is nonsense. It's like saying because some white guy who has a confederate flag that all white people are racists. This is just garbage intended to play on people's fears.

On DCUM, "parenting" means "the stuff I do, that you should do too, but you don't do it, because you're a loser."

I'm sorry your child was racially bullied and I hope the school took appropriate action, but your insistence on identifying the bullies as "local kids" is dangerously close to suggesting that all kids in certain areas and from certain groups share a common trait. Just as I don't believe every child/family at Pyle/Whitman is a white supremacist despite pervasive racialized bullying at those schools, how about you give some benefit of the doubt to "local kids" and families at a school your family CHOSE to attend?

"some" -- and can you read ?

By the way DC's best friend is a local kid!
