Huffman was born in Bedford, New York, into a wealthy Christian family, the daughter of Grace Valle (née Ewing; 1921–2009) and Moore Peters Huffman (1910–1987), a banker and partner at Morgan Stanley. She's descended from the Peters Cartridge Company and King Mills Powder Company fortunes. Huffman attended The Putney School, a private boarding high school in Putney, Vermont.

A friends DD just graduated from Putney. Isn't it very artsy/crunchy rather than preppy?

It's "crunchy-preppy NE WASP" which is definitely a subset of preppy, actually. Think of the rich kids at Brown.

You want a real NE Prep?

Here you go: https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/politics/g19827872/barbara-bush-family-photos/?slide=1

The casual outfits (that polka dot shirt in 5, that anorak in 11, red and white stripe polo in 20, that bright blue polo in 14 with the printed skirt, the slightly dirty Keds for walking the dog in 32)--those are still NE Prep outfits in summer.

And another one. Everything here is NE prep:

The Bushes are old-money preps. It always struck me as kind of phony that W adopted that, "Aw, shucks," Texas cowboy persona.

She is the ultimate NE WASP preppy.

The first photo here is actual NE preppy.

The clothing in the first photo looks so timeless, like it could have been taken this summer.

For women in their 80s, yes.

Did you see Will Ferrell's one man show where he plays W. ?

There is an allusion to that. It's hilarious and not mean really, just funny

That drove me insane. I know several people related to the Bush family and all epitomize old money NE WASPs who would never be caught dead in Texas or have anything in common with most of his supporters.

Yes. And effortless. Dorothy's dress is perfect.

I'm guessing colors and patterns. Southern Prep seems to use a lot of pastels and bright colors, where NE uses more neutrals (i.e. navy, beige).
