I get it, rushing, single mom, but be safer in the future, you are the only parent you kids have! You have to take care of yourself(meaning no jail time for speeding) so that you can take care of them. At least it was in person, I hate the socialist speed cameras.

If you or a loved one ever got hit by a car that was speeding in your neighborhood you would love these cameras. I would love one in my neighborhood where people speed all the time.

I wonder how OP and you would feel if a car was going 60 in your neighborhood while you were out walking with your kids. Probably p.o.'d at the driver, right?

What? Are you nuts? I am not ok with people speeding like that, nor people biking recklessly, nor people jay walking... Just because I said, don't do it again and be careful doesn't mean I am all for people speeding! She made a mistake, she is paying for it, isn't that how the legal system works?

But you hate speed cameras that would probably force speeders like OP to slow down in residential areas? Why would that be? I'm all for speed cameras in residential areas where I know people speed all the time. I don't mean 5 miles above the speed limit, but more like what OP was doing.

I feel that speed camera are illegal and ineffective.

How is a speed camera illegal? If it really is illegal, you really don't think some lawyer would've fought against them by now?

The mobile speed camera they put in my neighborhood on occasion is VERY effective. When it's there, people slow down. When it's gone, some people speed. Where is it ineffective?

That left me with 950 bucks to spend on hookers and blow instead of an attorney, and the time to do so instead of taking a safe driving course.

why should being a single mom make you less culpable or worthy of a break? tons of us are single moms (or dads) and yet we do not put innocent people in their own neighborhood in danger

Oh no. You are wrong. If OP is using the fact that she is a single mom as reason to be excused for speeding then she needs to admit that she failed her kid by not putting his needs first (having a mom with a valid license to work)

It is not the fine, it is the point. Not sure what is going on in Va, but in DC, reckless driving is 6 points, and your license gets suspended with 10 points.
