Lady Gabriella's Bridemaids dresses should be burned

This wedding was at a church- and the queen was there- no way would the guests be wearing those sleeveless/ strapless cocktail type dresses americans wear to weddings.

Sad because I think she is lovely and usually very chic. This dress - no.

Kate Spade design

Rich British women definitely have a thing about dressing like little girls.

The British concept of dressing formally and appropriately for weddings and events is quite different than Americans. They are much more formal and they will cover up more for weddings. You think it's dressing like little girls because they're not showing cleavage or strutting around like a whore. They don't go to weddings dressed as if it was a cocktail party. They wear longer dresses. And it also helps that it's much cooler so those long dresses have a purpose too

If going to a fancy drinks party or a ball, they wouldn't wear these dresses, because it wouldn't be suitable for those events.

Darling, I’m married to a Brit, and know how to dress suitably for an occasion. I didn’t make the little girl comment, but I did make the comment about the dress being ugly and old-fashioned looking. Because it is. There’s plenty of ways to look au courant and appropriate without baring skin or looking frumpy and horrid. Many British ladies do. Sadly this one was a miss for our Pippa.

Especially compared to the "American" dresses someone just posted above. Just goes to show, taste differs...

Yep... some ppl like a matronly and unstylish look.

Kate is wearing a similar dress to the flower show. Must be very high fashion!

I think the dresses are fine. Agree that the style considerations are just different. I prefer the British options.

My main takeaway is that I guess the Middleton family is now a permanent part of the royal set. Was surprised to see them there given the relative distance of the bride from William and Kate.

It's Erdem and she's worn that brand before. It's as ugly as ever. Sometimes she has a tolerable Erdem dress but mostly no.

You know what Erdem reminds me of? The Vera Bradley of Britain.

I mean, you can keep saying these women are not stylish but they are designers and literally make style. Maybe you are a designed too, I don't know. But I kind of do know and would guess I'm accurate that you are not.

These women are stick thin and lovely and can wear whatever they want and still look great. The floral trend is of the moment and is perfect for those who can wear something hideous and look chic. It is not truly flattering on anyone, IMO.

Here's the query though WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO WEAR SOMETHING HIDEOUS?

Stupidest thing ever. It'll be looked back on like the big shoulder pads and balloon dresses of the 80s as ridiculous. Right now, you have Kate in family photos looking like the milkmaid.

But I do sort of agree they're better on a mannequin than on a woman in today's world.

I love them also. They are so non mall, non middle class, non everyday wear, non neutral, non everyday, non Oscar night in Hollywood : they are couture. Sumptuous fabrics for a royal wedding.

I mean, a designer designed mom jeans, shoulder pads, culottes, Ugg's, Birkenstock’s, etc. They literally made style. Does that mean it looks good? Does everything a designer makes look good? You can try to justify these horrible and matronly frocks so you can think you are stylish, but, well you aren’t.

So are the dresses you see at the Oscars.
