But he’s not drinking 1.7 drinks per day. He’s drinking high alcohol content beer that is really the equivalent of twice as much regular beer and he’s drinking it all in a period of roughly 54 hours per week. He doesn’t drink at all 4 days a week, but he’s drinking the equivalent of 24 light beers over the other 3 days per week, which averages out to 8 drinks a day when he does drink.
If he only drank for one month out of the year, but he drank 365 beers in that 30 day period, would you think it was no big deal because it averages out to 1 beer per day over the course of that year, even though he drank 12 beers per day, every day for one month?
