Time to check your facts before spouting off. Imperial stouts vary widely in alcohol conent. Some are quite similar to that of a miller lite. |
That much beer drinking is a young man;s game, He'll cut back as he gets older. |
Four beers every day of the week seems like a lot of alcohol (b/c when this question is asked, it's usually how many drinks per week). Four beers 3x a week does not seem excessive to me, absent any indicators there is an issue (appears drunk, can't go a day without, drives drunk, has negative impact at home or work, etc.).
Plus, you say he is fit, healthy with no obvious negative impact currently. When you discussed it, he said he would reconsider if, down the road, this changes. What other husband's do does not seem relevant to your situation. You are worried that this could lead to future problems for your husband. I think it's unnecessary, but wouldn't his doctor be the one to ask about the situation? If you are truly concerned about the long-term impact on your husband's health... |
2-3 drinks per night is considered the threshold for men between light/heavy drinking.
One unit of beer = 12 ounces of 5% alcohol. If your DH is drinking 10% alcohol beers, that means he is drinking about 24 units a week. 24/7 = 3.4 units/day. So yes, that is too much. He is a heavy drinker. Alcohol is a level one carcinogen. Even modest amounts are associated with an increased risk of multiple different forms of cancer. He may eventually have other health problems too, but cancer is the big one. |
or he could be like me where i have 1 drink and it makes me feel just a tad lousy/get bad sleep so i don't like to drink during the week. i need to be 100% at work. |
OP here. Read the entire thread. He is having 12 a week. 4 Friday night, 4 Saturday and 4 Sunday. I think it will lead to problems later on, but I need to just accept it. Hopefully he changes if he starts to see affects. |
This poster always comes on about carcinogens with every alcohol post. |
The guideline for men is less than 14 drinks a week. Maybe you can figure out how many “drinks” his beers equal. But it doesn’t sound insanr |
Nope. Stouts vary a lot in alcohol content. Guiness is a DRY stout and it has a low percentage. But when you add the word IMPERIAL that means it is higher than 8% and usually 10. https://www.thekitchn.com/beer-labeling-what-does-imperi-112370 |
Have you looked into whether he might be pouring or injecting miniatures of vodka, gin, etc. into the beers and Spiking it with hard liquor? That's what alcoholics do and he is an alcoholic. Thoughts? |
Amatuer |
I am sorry you felt that way. Alcoholics are tricky and will inject real booze into things in an attempt to Spike it with real with liquor to get them drunk. That is called alcoholistic thinking. |
OP here. He is not injecting his beer with anything. If he was it would have to be super secret but he pours in front of me and doesn't hide it. |
Am I sure? |
I find it funny that people keep throwing around “as long as he’s fit/healthy! Just because he appears healthy on the outside doesn’t mean the long term use of alcohol hasn’t affected the inside. Everyone knows about liver damage but cardiac damage is just as common, especially as we get older. Don’t kid yourself and I’m sure the doctor that was here earlier would agree. |
