Did Queen open for Shaun Cassidy in Baltimore circa 1979ish?

Queen was a legendary rock band with a transcendental talent as the lead singer. Shaun Cassidy is . . . not.

I am the OP of this thread and I heartily agree! Queen is <chef's kiss>. Hence my angst about the whole Shaun Cassidy / Queen memory. That just couldn't be, could it? Anyway, it was Virgin - whoever they are/were. Great hair though. I just love that there were so many of us confused by our early childhood memories of stomp stomp clapping. And thank you intrepeid PP who found that newspaper article!

Another mystery solved, DCUM-style. Thanks all.

Jimi Hendrix opened up for The Monkees once.

Back then those teen type bands were the bigger selling band

I was in my 20s and took my kid sister and her friend who were huge Cassidy fans. The opening act was most definitely Queen. So I don't think "anonymous" imagined that she saw Queen opening for Shaun in Baltimore - because they certainly did in LA!

Any artifacts from this? Articles? Cool

I was there (Capital Center). My Dad took my older Sister and her friend, and me. I was only 6. I fell asleep even before the opening band came on and slept through the whole thing!

I tend to agree with this. Queen was already a big rock band in 1976 and doubt that they would have opened for bubble gum popstar.

My dad took me and my older sister because we were in love with Shaun from the Hardy Boys. I remember singing we will rock you all the way home. That song came out in 77 (date is off in the movie.) It had to be Queen. We couldn't both be wrong. Maybe I could be off a little on the year. I too have tried to confirm it without success.

I saw Shaun Cassidy in Ohio as well. I can’t remember an opening act, though.

That Cap Centee show was my older sister’s first concert also!

Jimi Hendrix was opening act for the Monkeys on a tour

I was the monitor engineer for that tour. Virgin was the opener for all the shows during that time. I think the reason for the question about Queen is because Virgin did a version of "We Will Rock You" during their set. The band was actually quite good and did a lot of cover tunes. Great tour!

I saw Sean Cassidy in Denver CO at the Rainbow Music Hall and that was Queen that opened
