Did Queen open for Shaun Cassidy in Baltimore circa 1979ish?

I am pretty sure Queen was touring Europe in 1979 and Asia. I have never heard of this Shaun Cassidy in Europe. Queen even toured Yugoslavia in 1979!

A few years ago, I googled Bobby Sherman to see what ever became of him. He is a cop in southern California now. Or at least he was. Now he is probably retired and collecting social security.

My cousin had a Bobby Sherman lunch box in 2nd grade. I was always jealous.

Andy Gibb is a new Teen Idol. Sunday night he presented his '78 Shadow Dancing North American Tour to a capacity crowd a the Merriweather Post Pavilion. The screams that greeted his arrival onstage remained throughout the concert punctuated by occasional shouts as he east his eyes on a particular section of the crowd.

I can't tell which concert you mean - OP's or Cincinnati, but the dates that Queen toured are easily verifiable, and they didn't open for anyone in the U.S. after 1974.

I definitely remember Shaun - I was a 10 year old in looooove. So that part is crystal clear. I remember Shaun's pants were so tight that they split, and he had to go backstage to put on some new pants.

But the Queen part is less clear. I always thought it was them, but now I'm not so sure. Unfortunately, repeated searches of old tour schedules/set lists - both Queen's and Shaun's - have revealed nothing.

This has bugged me off and on over the years but I finally saw Bohemian Rhapsody and now I want to know for sure. Figured someone else here might've attended that Baltimore concert and remembered...thanks.

You're not alone. I went to see Shaun Cassidy in Norfolk Virginia and Queen opened for him with we Will Rock You & The Champions. I remember it well. I'm pretty positive that was in 1978.

The News of the World Tour was a concert tour by the British rock band Queen, supporting their successful 1977 album News of the World. The tour spanned from 11 November 1977 to 13 May 1978 over three tour legs: North America, Europe, and The United Kingdom. Rehearsals for the tour took place at Shepperton Studios in October 1977.

I assume the PPs are getting their info from google (probably from setlist.fm). That said, Queen and Shaun Cassidy were playing venues like one day apart during the December 1977 legs of their tours... so maybe Queen did some extra performances during the Dec-May gap that weren't officially part of their tour? It just seems *so* unlikely that multiple people remember this and that Shaun Cassidy and Queen were touring the same venues at the same time right around then. (The tour in question, the News of the World, which appears to have a Dec-Apr gap, which seems a bit unlikely anyway, was the first to feature "We Will Rock You"... so all of the pieces seem to fit.)

During the height of the bee gees in the 70's I was in grammar school and my family, namely my sister was far too cool for them as she preferred the Sex Pistols, The Clash and I think The Boomtown Rats. So this was the music that filled the house in childhood. So imagine my surprise when I discover the beauty of the bee gees a few years ago, Andy Gibb as well has a hauntingly beautiful voice. I call my sister and say, "look I know they were corny but the bee gees are actually reallyn really good" and she says, "Um, the Bee Gees were musical geniuses". Indeed.
