I switched teams. You NEED to serve more than pizza at a party!!!!

Do you seriously not see the difference?

If someone is hosting a party and asks what they should serve everyone says that serving more-than-pizza is much appreciated and generous food options is a sign of being a good host. Which it is.

If someone is a guest at a party and posts just to complain that two slices of pizza was insufficient for a 3yo, they are reminded that having a contingency plan and being appreciative of what is offered are signs of being a good guest. Which they are.

There’s no hypocrisy in reminding everyone to stay in their own lane.

I’m imagining OP taking her kid to birthday parties and participating at them all. At the party at Michaels, she sits at the little tables with the kids and decorated a treasure chest with the kids. Or going to the party on a farm and taking her turn riding the pony in a circle, then posting that the pony was too small and they should also offer full size horse rides too. Or the magic show party and OP sitting in the audience raising her hand and shouting “me, me, me!” when the magician asks for a volunteer.

No one on this forum is starving. You and your child were hungry.

Trampoline parks are very strict about the type of outdoor food you can bring to a party. Also consider when you’ve been invited to a party like this that the host has spent an upwards of $400 for the trampoline admission and Goodie bags.

I hear you, OP. I have been to 8 3 year old parties and only 2 served just pizza and cake. Others including my party, we served fruit and veggies along with the pizzas. The bare minimum is rather tacky.

ZavaZone only allows you to serve their pizza plus your cake or cupcakes. You are not allowed to bring in outside food other than cake.

They probably were not at trampoline parks, they do not allow you to bring fruit and veggies.

If I hosted a party at my house, I'd serve a lot of food, even alcohol, and I would personally enjoy providing food for kids and adults alike. I did recently host a party at a trampoline park - it's more fun for the kids - not so much for the adults. we were limited to pizza and a huge cake that i brought and offered to all. I was a little bit embarrassed that there was not enough pizza for all adults - just kids. But it was a 2 hour party and I think everyone knows the drill. What can you do? There was cake, but no coffee allowed. You can't please everyone. These parties are a big expense and kids really enjoy them. So i guess as adults we need to suck it up sometimes, prepare, pack snacks and move on. And just appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to socialize, get the kids out, jumping and getting all their energy out.

Nope. The locations of the two parties I mentioned were used previously by other families. So we all as a group have been to these places for bday parties. In previous times, the host served other food and at the place that you can’t bring your own food.. the generous host ordered other things from the menu.

Do you guys not jump with your kids at birthday parties or ever? I always jump because it's so fun (not at birthday parties just when I take my kids). I always feel like the sweatiest person in there but it is a lot of fun. I dont post pics to Instagram cause I'm so gross afterwards though Haha.

At parties, no, alone, absolutely but I prefer the bounce places over trampolines.

OP got 2 pieces of pizza. If her kid was that hungry she should have given her child hers and then got something on the way home. Simple.

DCUM will always be DCUM.

Sorry, OP. This is the punishment you get for trying to start a lighthearted thread.

Its a bit strange not to feed or give a snack to a 3 year old before going in that situation. She could have given child her slices but that is a huge amount of food for a little one.

When we are home, I put out a full spread.

Bounce house, laser tag type place? Pizza and cake.

I have complained when hosts serve only cake during a meal time. Also been to a party that had just grapes and cake.

I once hosted a party a place from 2-4. Not a meal time so I did cake and fruit. I spent hours cutting and preparing probably 8 kinds of fruit. It was the biggest pain in the ass and I was wondering why the hell I didn’t just order pizza.

Threads like this make it clear why there's an obesity problem in the US. First of all, for many younger kids and adult, two slices of normal-size pizza is plenty. You may want more (hi, Obesity!) but your body doesn't actually need more. (The average person I mean, of course, there are exceptions.) At any rate, you are not "starving" because you only had two pieces of pizza, unless you didn't eat anything else before and how it that the host's problem? And even if you didn't eat enough before you came or you and your kid have these intense appetites for real - you still aren't going to starve on two slices of pizza and cake. We've come to the point in this country where people seem to think being hungry for an hour or two is a health crisis, and that their kids need to eat non-stop in order to not drop dead on the spot from low-blood sugar. Good grief.
