PROXIMITY TO ALL THE BEST SHOPS OMFG

Can I ask a serious question though? The Whole Foods née Fresh Fields is so crappy now by comparison to the Whole Foods née Woody’s, so how is it that they are both full? Did more people move in? A whole Whole Foods worth?

Whatever you do OP don’t get snookered into buying a house in Martin’s Additions which is clearly a separate and inferior municipality.

I think it's much nicer. Away from the constant din of Connecticut Ave and the tiny narrow streets.

I inherited a house in Somerset and sold it. Unfathomable to people on this board, i know.

Even when the housing bubble burst the houses in Chevy Chase held their value (albeit dropping from absurdly priced to merely ridiculously priced). Location is another great thing. All of Chevy Chase Md is a short commute into DC while being close to the Beltway. I love just over a mile from the DC boarded and my commute (via car, during rush hour) to near Capital Hill is typically 45 - 60 minutes and when I worked near the White House it was about 15 minutes less. When I am not in rush hour it can be as shot as 30 minutes). Bethesda is a large area, so the commute will vary The public schools for Chevy Chase are all good. Again, Bethesda is a larger area and while I think all of the schools that serve the area are probably good I don’t know. Some people are attracted to the opportunity to live near famous and “powerful” people. There are a good deal of those in Chevy Chase. Crime is close to zero. Chevy Chase Village has its own police force and most of the other Chevy Chase towns/villages pay the Chevy Chase Village police to also patrol their towns/villages (as a supplement to the patrols by Montgomery County police). In the end, there are parts of Bethesda that offer everything that Chevy Chase does and parts that’s do not.

+ close access to the park. It’s the best of all worlds.

Too crowded the lots too small heat the street parking and the pass-through from Wisconsin. It worked out

Why is Martin’s Additoons considered to be “inferior”? One of these closest in neighborhoods of Chevy Chase relative to DC and overall wonderful community.

To me it's unfathomable that someone would have so much inherited wealth and privilege and still waste time on this board.

He says Chevy Chase MD is one of the top places to live in the DMV, but I can't seem to figure out what's so great about CC Village, Martins Additions, Section 3, and Section 5. Seems like a bunch of older houses, small lots (<0.25 acres), and street parked cars due to lack of garages (and sometimes driveways). Reminds me of small old towns in New England.

I absolutely don't mean this as a troll post, but why is CC more desirable than nearby Bethesda where the lots are larger and homes look newer?

That’s the draw.

+1 from a native who still lives here. If I had $2.5M to spend on just one house I’d be in Somerset or the Village in a heartbeat.

I’ve lived in Martin’s Additons for 10+ years and honestly feel it is the best kept secret in Chevy Chase. Wonderful neighbors and community, plenty of well heeled folks how are low key about their various successs, and excellent public services coordinated by the Village office

The housing stock here blows.

Nice try to include Arlington in the discussion, but no. Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Great Falls, McLean, and Potomac are the area’s prestige suburbs. Arlington is second-tier.

Not true. But the area's housing stock still blows.

Arlington is the Virginia version of Silver Spring. Go away.

Whatever your view of the relative merits of these suburbs and how they stack up against one another, the fact remains that wherever you are in metro DC, *the housing stock here blows*.
