Just so I’m clear. You have several friends who are paying thousands in annual dues who are so disgusted by Chevy chase that they won’t go there. Why didn’t anyone of the several tell the others how horrific it was before they ponied up tens of thousands in initiation fees? Also, they go to others friends clubs or host dinners? Why not just join the other friends clubs? Who cares about the initiation fees when they’re paying $10k a year to NOT go to Chevy Chase. Host dinners instead of going to the club? Really? Hi, thank you for coming. We would have invited you to the club but they’re all racist. Your post is absurd.

When you have large beautiful homes it can be more enjoyable to have dinner parties in the privacy of your own home and have them catered rather than at a club. We often get invited to friends’ homes for large dinner parties and they have them catered. Many people have homes which are perfect for entertaining and if they are traveling often or out at functions they prefer to host in their home when they can.

Missed the point. PP indicated that their friends are dues-paying members at Chevy Chase (I’m not a member there, but annual dues and minimums are likely over $10,000 per year) but choose to “host” dinners at other people’s clubs (which isn’t even a thing — you, by definition, don’t host at clubs you don’t belong to).

The country gave him two chances, and he screwed us all.

You might want to adjust that tin foil hat of yours before actual logic & reasoning seeps through.

Poster never said they were hosting at other peoples clubs. They said they host at “other” clubs. Sounds like you’re the one that doesn’t realize that many people belong to several different clubs where they can host events and dinners such as the Metropolitan club, Sulgrave, Cosmos, and some people belong more than one country club. That’s not uncommon for Several people belong to Sulgrave as well as I can think of several people that belong to more than to more than one country club for a variety of reasons (usually because of business reasons). I think of 5 such people off of the top of my head.

I belonged through my father beginning in 1953. I could not bring my best friend, whose father was Jewish, through 1971 when I went off to college.

That is really disturbing. What prompted you to post this? Is this about the emails that have recently surfaced about members asking other members to blackball a Jewish applicant?

It does have a history when it discriminated against blacks, Jews, etc, but those days are long gone - VERY long gone. It is true that there are few black members at Chevy Chase. My sense is that most of the membership wishes that we had more. I think the current situation reflects the fact that most of the members socialize with like (white) families AND that many black people who could afford the club have no desire to join. I, just one example, asked a black friend if I could propose him, and he was not interested.

Did you ever wonder why?

NP. Is this about the blackball incident a couple of years ago or something more recent?

501c 7 tax exempt status criteria forbids discrimination.

How is it racist?

There are WASP clubs, Catholic Clubs and Jewish clubs etc. although they no longer just for that group. But memberships are for them.

My favorite one country club I know costs $100k to join. Is that racist.

Oh please. The PP doesn’t give a shit what Black people think. Why don’t they go? “Don’t know, don’t care.” is the PP’s thought process.

Is Luke O’Boyle still the GM? Do you have his contact information? What about a list of the board members over the past 5 years?

If you have the $$ to join and want to be around others that have the same $$, what is racist about that? If I had that to toss around I would too.

Yes, so was the town of Chevy Chase at one point and I would expect, they would be the members.
