It's disgustingly racist. These Washingtonians who think it's somehow "cool" to belong - especially the one's who've waited on the list forever to join - are pathetic. Yes, people laugh at them and judge them behind their backs. Racist. Disgusting. |
All of the area country clubs are vast majority white. It’s reflection of the wealthy, homogeneous communities they are in.
But you are attending a private function, not joining the club so I don’t see why it would be a concern. Are you thinking your spouse would be treated differently by the staff or something? |
Pres Obama joined Columbia. The local country clubs stopped being racist years ago but many people are still bitter. Consider not being one of those people.
https://www.washingtonian.com/2017/10/06/obama-will-join-columbia-country-club-in-chevy-chase/ We’ve been to several events @ CC and everyone is treated with respect and warmth. I wouldn’t skip an event there that would be irrational and ridiculous. |
Not at all. |
Pres Obama chose to live in ultrawhite Kalorama, so not sure his example is terribly relevant to OP. |
Thanks for making me laugh out loud abd spit out my coffee. |
Hooray! Racism is over! |
Stay locked in your home behind closed doors - that will fix it. |
Right. He should be living in a manse in PG , right? |
Clinton and Vernon Jordan were always at Burning Tree, with Terry McAulliffe. I doubt either one ever stepped foot at Columbia or CCC. |
Liberals think everything is racist. |
If you are a family member, not going will create a lot of anger or issues for the brides family. Do you want to create controversy? Go and have a good time. The odds of your wife being mistreated are slim to none so you can be sure nothing will happen. It's a private event so just go an enjoy yourself. |
Whatever, you are an idiot. |
I'm AA and used to live in CC. We had an opportunity to join Columbia, but honestly, I think for black people it's a matter of whether it's a good investment to spend $100K if you don't come from generational wealth. |
Obama was President too and look where we are as a country now. His presence doesn't cure a place of racism. |
