Is the Chevy Chase Club Racist?

It's disgustingly racist. These Washingtonians who think it's somehow "cool" to belong - especially the one's who've waited on the list forever to join - are pathetic. Yes, people laugh at them and judge them behind their backs. Racist. Disgusting.

All of the area country clubs are vast majority white. It’s reflection of the wealthy, homogeneous communities they are in.

But you are attending a private function, not joining the club so I don’t see why it would be a concern. Are you thinking your spouse would be treated differently by the staff or something?

We’ve been to several events @ CC and everyone is treated with respect and warmth. I wouldn’t skip an event there that would be irrational and ridiculous.

If you are a family member, not going will create a lot of anger or issues for the brides family. Do you want to create controversy? Go and have a good time. The odds of your wife being mistreated are slim to none so you can be sure nothing will happen. It's a private event so just go an enjoy yourself.

I'm AA and used to live in CC. We had an opportunity to join Columbia, but honestly, I think for black people it's a matter of whether it's a good investment to spend $100K if you don't come from generational wealth.
