Also don’t forget that some EOTR schools are under enrolled. So another reason why admin turns the other way.

THIS
A coworker/friend is committing residency fraud in a school that had no waitlist. She claims the school even assisted her in telling her what to do to get the proper paperwork. So she used a relative’s address and registered her car/changed her license to DC. She even changed her withholding to DC. She and her husband (who own a home and sleep in it every single night in PG County) will file their taxes separately from now on. I think she’s untouchable under these circumstances.

Like, legally speaking, what is the requirement because like some have said, people tend to go back and forth a lot and have family all over the area Easy enough to put your mom's gas bill in your name. I have neighbors like this is why I ask; kid is at an HRCS.

Go to court and sign child over to grandma as guardian, amend taxes!

You don't even have to go to court, grandma just has to sign an affidavit. There are lots and lots of kids in DC in "non-traditional" family arrangements, so they can't make the process too onerous. Which makes it easy for the cheaters.

You can still do the right thing and report her if you so choose...if they catch her they catch her! Why is your friend going to all this trouble, what school are they in that makes this worth it to change docs?

It’s a new “specialty” charter school and very close to where we work. The hours are longer than a traditional school day and there is free aftercare. The kid was attending private school in PG. they are now saving a ton of $.

Hi PSP hater, we've been missing you. You never responded to my inquiry if you had met the 2015 turn around team?

I wasn’t the person who posted that but as someone in the neighborhood I see Maryland cars every morning at pickup and drop off. I have seen maybe 3 cars with DC plates.

I didnt see your post about Perry street prep but I wouldn’t send kids there either. Lots of yelling.

Not hard at all. Kids have 2 parents and one who works in DC can "rent" a room in somebody's home and get the documents for school.
We have a worker in the building who takes her kids to local school. Had never seen her in the building with her kids during or after work or in the neighborhood. She can be seen only during work hours and dropping off kids and picking them up.
2 maintenance families live in the building, but not all staff.

A bit off topic but the public charge rules apply to legal immigrants (and change in those rules might affect them). Undocumented are ironically free to do whatever they see fit, as it is almost impossible to get legal status.

Dc shouldmoffer rewards to people to report residency fraud ifnit can be successfully prosecuted or the kid kicked out.

I feel so bad for the children. That is all.

This investigation seems targeted. One guy with two different baby mommas cheating... probably an ex girlfriend spilled the beans

This is a classic “let’s make an example out of scheming poor people” case. Sad we care so much.

Kick all the kids out, stealing education. The horror...

You feel bad that they:
A) attend DCPS
B) have parents who broke the law
C) will have to leave their school
D) will likely suffer financially and emotionally if their parent is convicted

Which one(s)?
