Arlington DA

Why does anyone need to own it?

The entitlement on these threads is baffling. Arlington or any club do not need to post games for you. They have no obligation to you. If you are interested in the program or any program get off the keyboard and go a watch for yourself. You’re not entitled to anything much less be spoon fed.

Go back to page 1 and re-read the posts. There is you defending ASA at all costs, and many posters talking about the style and what needs to change. My kids play there. I have seen your 04s, 00s (non-DA), so just STFU please. You are too thin-skinned.

Multiple posters have agreed with the statement above yours. Now you STFU, fool.

German does an excellent job finding good coaches and getting all the coaches on the same page. It is not as easy as some people think. He is a very good director, manager and an excellent coach. The club also has some good resources for players to help them play beyond youth soccer.

Were you with him in McLean?

Coaches encourage players to play ball forwards.

Ahhh, so more through balls then? Are they big on one touch passing, or do they allow players - within reason - to take their space? What's the emphasis?

There is no philosophy.

We found it varies from coach to coach over the years, often contradicting the previous year's coach. In the early years, definitely focus on athleticism and long balls. Their goalies are punting very early and by U11 the goalie punts into the other side's goal box while the striker chases it down.

I don't know about DA. I heard they have a decent older coach working more on tactical. But, if they wanted to play possession in the later years it would serve them better to get the ASA kids started on that early in the program. But, like many Clubs they focus on the wins young so in the later years many of their original players don't have the knowledge/skill set and fade out or get eclipsed by kids developed elsewhere.

Nailed it, but don't tell that to the clown parent with his agenda.

Lmao, everyone on this board knows who has the agenda. Becomes more obvious with each post, clown.

I haven't seen the GDA teams play yet but as far as the BDA teams, yes I do think they play a more possession based style than Arlington teams have typically been known for.

Arlington has always been hit or miss when it comes to possession vs run-and-gun. Well, mostly miss, but there were always some exceptions. Now, combined with the coaches they've brought in from outside, they've put their more possession based coaches in charge of their DA teams.

Also, didn't the GDA teams bring in a lot of non-Arlington players? Especially on the 05s, it looks like less than half the team is from Arlington.

For the boys its kind of misleading. Many of their 05s and 06s were previously on Arlington teams, but only for a year before being eligible for the DA. The reality is they were mostly developed elsewhere.

+1

But you say all this at risk of upsetting the Arlington cheerdadder sportin' the nifty ASA patch on his track pants. Tread lightly.

You always seem like you are looking for a fight. Which ASA age group does your DC play on that every post makes you feel as if it is a personal attack?

This thread has definitely taken a turn for the worse and is it just me, or are these guys fighting over the same thing? Arlington GDA is moving toward a more possession style, but at times (especially when pressured) resort back to the old run and gun style. Yes. That is correct. Seems like everyone agrees. And yet we still have the insults.

2000. Been around the club a lot longer then you. What age group are you part of?

Wow, this thread is a mess. I have seen the Arlington girls u13 DA team play and they primarily played a possession game. I was impressed with their abilities for 12 year old girls. Definitely beyond most teams at their age in this area. I am not with Arlington, so I can’t judge beyond that.

Run-and-gun is prevalent style, but boys and outside new coach are changing that, at least in DA.

I hear what you are saying. I just didn’t see much “run and gun” in the couple of games I saw. Does it vary with team/coach?

Impossible, just like the person who said they'd seen Arlington GDA play last year.

Arlington GDA only has U14 and U15 age groups. There is no U13 GDA team.

FWIW, I have heard that the U14s do play out of the back, through the midfield, and generally try to play a posession style, but I have not seen it myself.
