Bethenny Frankel's on again/off again boyfriend, Dennis Shields found dead

I'm not a fan of Bethenny, but this will be hard on her. I also found it to be in poor taste that Carole and Dorinda posted a carefree photo of them at dinner with Caroline Stanbury at dinner. They could have waited.

I can't help but wonder if he didn't call 911 because he has some level of notoriety (as both linked to Bethenny, and Trump/administration, and a business owner) and didn't want it to get out in the press. I really hope that wasn't the case, but why else would he not have called 911?

Personally I saw it more as a sign that this type of thing had happened to him before. Just like chest pains - if you get them sometimes then you’d be less likely to call 911 for yourself even if they’re worse than what you’ve had before. It’s like a desensitization.

If it had happened before why wouldn’t he have had Narcan in his apartment?

The same reason some women run out of tampons...not like you don't know you'll need it.

Can someone explain the Trump support other than living in one of his buildings.? Trumps buildings were known for the security long before he was president. Just curious if there is support of this besides him living in a building with the name on it.

I think he's actually a Trump supporter. I remember after Trump won, Bethanny was all over social media, complaining about the protestors, how it wasn't going to change anything and that she had places to go and couldn't get there. I guess she couldn't go see her boyfriend and he could barely leave Trump Tower because of all of the people exercising their 1st Amendment rights. Now her reaction makes sense - at the time I thought it was an odd thing thing to say and that she risked alienating some fans (she did - I was no longer a fan after that comment).

Dennis and his wife of 26 years were separated but they were NOT divorced. Bethenny has no rights. She calls all the shots. If there is a funeral she could ban Bethenny and put the kibosh on her shouting his name around town.

Now there are articles saying that Dennis’ friends worry that Bethenny’s comments this week about him may have prompted his downward spiral. I think she said something like he wasn’t the one and she could never marry him. I don’t know how she bounces back from this, it’s awful for her in so many ways.

Ok thank you. I hadn’t heard anything about that before and when they filmed the election on RHNY, it was pretty focused on Carole and Dorinda. B was wasn’t very vocal then about it.

Dennis was longtime friends with Trump's lawyer. He worked in finance (sort of), and a lot of those guys are pro-Trump, for personal financial gain. This is starting to make more sense now. I think this was part of the rift between them. I couldn't feel the same way about a friend who was in a relationship with a Trumper. Nope, I never knew you at all and you are not the person I thought you were.

No, it proves they are no longer close to Bethenny and are not in mourning. If it was his ex-wife, or Bethenny, posting that pic it would be tone-deaf. They were not close to Dennis, are no longer close to Bethenny. There's nothing tone-deaf about it.

+1 Carole and Dorinda have lost husbands and Dorinda, especially is quick to remind everyone that she "BURIED HER HUSBAND" if anyone else expresses any relationship pain. I am specifically thinking about the way Dorinda belittled Lu and Sonya with regard to their former marriages. These women know that Dennis, regardless of the on/off nature of their relationship, meant something to Bethenny. They are also media savvy enough to know that people, magazines, media, etc will be looking at their social media profiles to see if they have some kind of a response. I agree the photo is tone deaf and insensitive at best (and that is being generous), spiteful/hateful at worst.
