Yes. But I don’t think it’s too unusual to have divorces drag out when lots of money is involved. Especially since I doubt Dennis and his wife had a prenup.u

Exactly he has a lot of money and a few businesses and wife probably wouldn't accept his first offer after being with him since he was 23. Also in NY you have to be legally separated for 1 year before divorce.

Not like she was going to get what she thought she was 'worth'.

Matt Lauer's wife is only getting $20 million. A) She was married to him for 2+ decades. B) He made more than that in a single year.

Matt’s estimated net worth is only between 60-80M. Her 20M payout plus proceeds from the sale of their properties would be more than generous. Additionally, this article states that he gave her a large payout in 2006 to continue to be married to him.

LOL What proceeds? The man is up to his eyeballs in property debt like a certain man on trial. He sold his Manhattan condos already for a million more than he bought it but has had to slash the first Hamptons property by $5 million and its still not selling. That's on top of the fact that the New Zealand property is a lease. Should be interesting to see what happens to the $37 million second Hamptons home. He bought it for 50% off the list price of $65 million. Not sure he can afford to sell a house for $15 million this time around.

Don’t you mean that THEY are up to their eyeballs in property debt? She’s an owner of those properties as well. And if they are really taking as much of a loss as you say, then her 20M cash payment isn’t that low like the PP upthread implied.

No, I don't mean they. Pretty sure only one name is on the mortgage and qualifying loans. Hence the fire sale is always under his name. She did buy some of the land that the Hamptons home sits on.

Where are you reading that she is not listed as an owner to their properties? And he is the more famous person so the media is of course just going to list his name as he is the recognizable celebrity.

I think he's actually a Trump supporter. I remember after Trump won, Bethanny was all over social media, complaining about the protestors, how it wasn't going to change anything and that she had places to go and couldn't get there. I guess she couldn't go see her boyfriend and he could barely leave Trump Tower because of all of the people exercising their 1st Amendment rights. Now her reaction makes sense - at the time I thought it was an odd thing thing to say and that she risked alienating some fans (she did - I was no longer a fan after that comment).

Ok thank you. I hadn’t heard anything about that before and when they filmed the election on RHNY, it was pretty focused on Carole and Dorinda. B was wasn’t very vocal then about it.

Dennis was longtime friends with Trump's lawyer. He worked in finance (sort of), and a lot of those guys are pro-Trump, for personal financial gain. This is starting to make more sense now. I think this was part of the rift between them. I couldn't feel the same way about a friend who was in a relationship with a Trumper. Nope, I never knew you at all and you are not the person I thought you were.

Wait. Was it this lawyer? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/reliable-source/wp/2018/07/08/former-trump-lawyer-ty-cobb-rocks-out-at-the-punk-show-of-a-band-called-copstabber/

No. Michael Cohen. They were childhood friends. Michael Cohen warned Dennis Shields to evacuate Trump Tower during the fire.

I can’t believe there are 9 pages about a rich junkie. Zero Fs given over here.

Wait, how did Katie Holmes get divorced so fast? I thought she was divorced in like 3 months from moving to NY?

Pre-nup and/or they agreed to terms and/or it was under California law. Any number of possibilities.

They got married in Italy, so who knows how they legalized it in the US.

If you're legally married in another country (i.e. you follow that country's laws regarding marriage), you are legally married in the US. I was married in Italy. Didn't have to do anything when I returned.

The divorce was finalized in NY within 2 months of her filing. They did have a pre-nup. NY allows for quick divorces, not sure where the one-year waiting period PP is referencing came from.

Different states have different waiting periods where you have to live separate and apart (or not as man and wife if you happen to still live under the same roof for financial reasons). DC you can get divorced like the same day. VA is at least six months for a no fault. Others are different. The more conservative the state, the longer the waiting period, generally.

Not relevant as the above actors are American but this is only true if you are a US citizen. I had to submit a lot of documentation of my overseas marriage, as a foreigner.

Figured this was coming. Faster than I expected though. So ugly.

Yes. Go back a page and read what was cut off in this post. It was getting too long. A previous poster claimed you had to be separated in NY for a year before the divorce. That is not true.

Looks like the hearing was prescheduled since Bethenny had filed for full custody. She’s not going to win and Jason won’t get full custody either. But he is right to question her judgment. She definitely seems on something with her mood swings.

Matt was making money and had money before he married. It’s possible they had a prenup. These people were college sweethearts just starting out in their careers. Big difference don’t you agree.

Is this woman still bringing in large sums of money from ventures or just living off the Skinny Girl sale? I vaguely recall the Skinny Girl venture made her a lot of money - but idk how much.

She is seriously so repulsive. idk who would buy her products.

And . . . as predicted, Jason Hoppy questions Bethenny's judgment after her boyfriend's death.
