1. In response to the title phrase, clearly they wanted you to ask so they expound on their theories. I wouldn’t engage.
2. For posters who think Americans are obese from drinking...milk? Then I probably don’t want to engage your “theories” either. Some people like milk, some don’t. Who cares? Same could be said of coffee, or tea, or orange juice. Or basically anything on earth. |
I don't think Americans are obese from drinking milk. I do think that it's our overall approach to nutrition - to include things like dairy - are a leading cause of obesity and other illnesses to include diabetes, high blood pressure, high (bad) cholesterol levels, and cancel. And I say "think" but actually these are scientific facts that have been proven by conducting years of research - following the same people for over 20 years, etc. as an example. It's not always about what you like. I like cigarettes. I do. I struggled mightily years ago to stop. I very much enjoyed it. I also knew it would kill me and still may very well cause me problems later in life even though I stopped. The idea that people can control and prevent a lot of their own health issues through dietary CHOICES is real. It's not a theory, it's not wacko sh*t, and frankly, it's not about values. It really is simply about health. I choose to do my own research and choose to do things that I know are healthier and better for a longer, better quality of life. I really think it's odd that those "against" those "theories" feel like it's a personal attack. I don't go around telling people how to eat. I worked in the same office over a decade and no one there knew that I didn't eat meat. I just didn't. I don't talk about it. I don't espouse my views. It's like anything else - there are those who are extremists and yell from the rooftops and there are some of us who simply live the life that we choose and part of that is eating better. I don't get the vitriol against those who do - being called wacky, crazy, theory followers or like I'm wearing a tinfoil hat is diminishing and insulting. You don't have to walk far to see unhealthy people walking around complaining but not once will consider that they mantra "you are what you eat" is really true. Again - I really don't care what others eat, smoke, drink or with who or how they have sex or what their religion is. I just never understood the frame of mind that makes one belittle others that are simply trying their best to life a healthier life for THEMSELVES. |
| In response to 11:12, I am the poster you quoted. I actually don’t drink milk, so your rant about feeling defensive or attacked seems to relate more to your own post than mine. |
Unfortunately, not. I drank 4 glasses of whole milk a day until I was 18 and have no boobs at all. And only weighed 95 pounds. |
